We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hillary Bell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hillary below.
Hillary , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I have taken is making the decision not to be average. The reason many people stay stuck is because they refuse to admit they don’t want to be average. I have learned that whether you want to fit in with the crowd or venture out to fulfill your own purpose and potential, you use energy. Why do you choose to use your energy to remain average when you can shift it into something greater and bigger? When are you going to stop letting fear block you from the greater life you deserve? Overcoming fear is taking a big risk but are you not risking your success when you decide to not overcome it? I was asked in a conference, “What would you gain if you just said yes.” Well, while taking this risk to overcome fears of not being average I have let go of shame, embarrassment, the weight of comparison to what others are doing in society, anxiety, and the bondage I created to stay stuck in a place I was not meant to be in. Deciding not to be average has changed my life completely. I have elevated in every aspect of my life. Although this work is ongoing, I have made great accomplishments and cannot wait to see what other impacts I will make.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Hillary Bell and among other things, I am a SoulShift Practitioner. At one point in my life, I decided the weight of situations and traumas I endured were a burden on my life and I was looking for a way to lift the heaviness. Enough was enough. I needed a change, I wanted better for myself, but I felt trapped. I was led to a church that taught like none other and one of my Pastor’s happened to be a personal development coach. This is when my journey to healing began. As I started my journey I realized a part of my purpose was to help other women through my life experiences. I was given the opportunity to take a training course that certified me as a Soulshift Practitioner. We are called Practitioners and not Coaches because the work we do continually requires practice. I help women shift from places they are bound and stuck in to a life of freedom. This may look like healing from trauma, overcoming fear, gaining confidence, walking in their God given purpose, overcoming depression and anxiety and more. This work moved me from a place from playing small and helped me break several chains. You really do not know how bound you are until you start to become free. I love being able to guide women to shift their perspective to help them see the life they are suppose to dominate.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Lies. I had to unlearn lies I believed about myself in order to realize who I was. Most people do not understand that they subconsciously wear several mask they carry from their childhood. One example for me, I was bullied in school. I had a family that loved me but I subconsciously held on to the words they used to attack me with. It lowered my self esteem which caused me to think I was not as worthy or valuable. As I got older I let people easily influence me, especially men. I was also an easily targeted because I was vulnerable. Through things I heard in my childhood, I carried into my young adulthood. As an adult I had to learn to unmask these lies because they were not true about me. The biggest part to unmasking them is that I had to become aware that I was wearing these masks. They say transformation work happens layer by layer. There is a reason for this. Once you uncover one mask you start to become aware of other lies you have been holding onto about yourself. I learned I was using these lies as a safety net to be comfortable. This is how I ended up digging a deep hole for me to hide in. One of the best pieces of advice I can give someone doing transformation work is that, it took you years to get into the hole you dug and it will take time for you to crawl out. When we set an unreal expectation that you can transform overnight after years of being bound, we set ourselves up for failure.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Faith. “Faith without work is dead. You have to take action.” – Dr. Dee Dee Freeman. Believing in yourself is one of the most important things you need to obtain strength in. You cannot say you have full faith if you are not acting on what you believe in. This does not belong only to this field of work, it belongs to everyone.
