We recently connected with High-Brid Band and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Joshua thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
A lot of people in the industry are afraid to take risks as you never know the outcome of the path you choose. That is the biggest problem in music industry especially when the game has changed (meaning it’s no longer a you have talent and a message to spread, its copy culture and spreading degeneracy in music). The risks are higher than ever before and the rewards are greater but the fall is harder. We believe, not matter how hard you fall, you can always stand back up and try again. That is the reason why never faltering on your dream, and being persistent in your craft will always prove a better outcome than giving up. You must take a risk to achieve your goal in the music industry.
Joshua, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
High-Brid Band is an American Rock Band from Upper Marlboro, MD reppin the DMV area. High on life, love, and music, High-Brid fuses most known genres of music in a rock format and will blaze a trail at any of their performances. The band is known in the DMV area and has several singles out on platforms like Spotify, iTunes, and Amazon Music. Some of the events and places High-Brid has performed include, but not limited to, Hard Rock Café; Baltimore Soundstage; Apollo Theater, just to name a few. High-Brid Band goals are to entertain, travel, and bring about a new era of music.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
High-Brid Band’s mission is to entertain, travel, and bring about a new era of music. What drives our creative journey is life events that happens not only to us, but to everyone on the planet. We’ve been in a war between good and evil and it has been getting worse each year. Through music, we hope to shed some light to those who see none and fight back with unity.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
We’ve had to unlearn the the entire old ways of how the music industry works and re-learn (still learning) the new ways of the music industry. It used to be about when musicians had talent, but now its all about who you know. There are sooo many great musicians out here that receive no recognition and or decided to just stay as a local community cover artist (not that its bad to be one). In order to even get scouted by industry professionals, you need to have millions of followers, already performed at multiple big venues, and have the funds to back your own backing. It’s almost like what’s the point, especially if you’re going to be your own label haha.
