We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hi, my name’s Kuhlahbee my day ones call me Caleb a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Hi, my name’s Kuhlahbee my day ones call me Caleb thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
My career path started in psychology. I wanted to be psychologist because I have always felt like my goal in life is to be there for the people who know one is there for and to help people through life. After a few years of college courses, I decided that being a psychologist wasn’t for me. I knew I would care too much for my patients and It’d hurt too much too see some people week over week wanting better, but never doing what it takes to do better for themselves. I quit school and decided music was going to be the way I’d be there for those people and promote positive living.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I make music to inspire and to help people feel heard. I promote peace, self-confidence and never giving up on your dreams. I think it’s important to be someone who always makes you feel like you’re home.
On top of good music with a postive message
I’ve always been big into comedy. I was known as the class clown in every class in school, and as an adult I’m part of an improv comedy group to help me stay quick and witty on stage
When you see my live I set an ambiance by making the crowd laugh in between sets.
Even if you’re listening to my music from home you’ll hear a pun or 2 in between serious subject matter to help you to remember no matter what’s going in your life you have to find something to laugh about.
Last year was a really big year for me.! I was hand picked to open up for some pretty big names; such as, Kota the Friend Lexy Panterra, Henry Az, and Madchild.
I’m ready to keep growing and excited to see what this year brings and to keep making music for all the individuals who want to be heard!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I love hearing people tell me that a lyric from obe of my song captured a feeling that they couldn’t put into words before they listened to it.
It’s like I’m being the voice for people who haven’t found theirs yet
I’m not making music for the masses I’m making music for the individuals.
I aspire to have a personal relationship with everyone who listens.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Share, celebrate, and promote local artist’s accomplishments and their music!!! Talk about like you would if Drake, Kendrick and J Cole dropped a song together.
Support should start in the community and expand internationally.
