We were lucky to catch up with Hermes Makeup recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Hermes thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
If something scares me, I usually go towards it. I never run from things that make me uncomfortable, obviously this is pertaining to dreams not spiders. Haha. Every opportunity presented in life is a risk and I love the thrill of it, the butterflies, the unknown- it is all part of what makes life exciting for me.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
HermesMakeup Instagram was created in hopes of revealing myself through the art of makeup. I was lonely at the time as I had just moved to Miami and didn’t know anyone. It helped me fill a void in a sense. I asked people to give me a chance to show my work- models, people following my page, etc. After a few months, doors opened and my clientele grew. My husband encouraged me to keep at it and he was my biggest support. My brand is about making people feel beautiful and confident for their big day. I feed off that energy!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Reputation is everything in my opinion. Not cancelling on clients, not being late, making sure the client is happy at the end, using high end products, and sanitation. These are all essentials to building a respectable reputation.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Make your posts strange, big, weird, fun! People are drawn to things that are not typical. I do a lot of reels, videos, transformations- I want my audience to experience the glam fully.
