We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Henry Mason Jr. . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Henry below.
Hi Henry, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
Precious Hospice was built on helping the less fortunate. Hospice helps narrow the health equity gap because it’s available to anyone who qualifies no matter where they live or their ability to pay. It’s a no out of pocket service that provides nursing visits, CNA’s to help with bathing, hospital grade equipment, supplies and we also pay for some of your medications. Not to mention we will have them delivered to your door.
Many people in low income areas don’t have access to quality healthcare because of a lack of transportation or a lack of quality providers in their area.
By going to the patient no matter where they reside, we are able to give quality healthcare for no out of pocket cost.

Henry, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Im originally from Chicago, IL but moved to Atlanta to pursue a business degree from Morehouse College. I come from a long line of entrepreneurs so this was always my first choice.
Starting this business along with our Precious CBD business I feel as though I’ve been able to really provide quality healthcare to people who didn’t access to it before. It’s a remarkable feeling and something I don’t take for granted.
I attend Cornerstone Baptist Church in Peachtree City, GA and have been going to church all of my life.
My life’s purpose is to help the underserved get what they deserve. That’s the Precious way.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Sure
Since we became known as a minority owned hospice it has been very difficult to get business in Georgia. There have been many times where I felt I should actually stop because I didn’t understand how so many other companies were able to get patients from hospitals and facilities but we couldn’t.
For the first 8 years, we got virtually no patients. We worked hard at providing the best care to those who trusted us and I’m so glad we did.
Now we are finally getting patients from the community and look to continue to educate the world on hospice and why everyone should consider it at that time.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Getting capital as a minority is extremely difficult but not impossible. You have to get creative and go out and ask people to invest. Someone will trust you just as someone did for me. I asked hundreds of people until I was able to secure enough to start the business. I wasn’t afraid or too prideful to ask because I knew I was walking in my purpose.
