We were lucky to catch up with Henry Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.

Henry, appreciate you joining us today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. So, we’d appreciate if you could open up about your growth story and the nitty, gritty details that went into scaling up.

My business has been growing over the past few years. I was able to level up by providing a great service. I like to make sure I exceed all my expectations from the first inquiry to the delivery of the images. I’ve done a lot over the past few years that helped. I’ve took one on one courses, studied marketing strategies, requested feedback from my clients and more. I also self audit my business which helps me know what is working and what isnt.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I always was the person with a camera growing up. I moved to Richmond, VA and the city was so beautiful. This made me purchase my first professional camera. I then learned how to use my camera. I took 2-3 years to learn my craft. I started out photographing bridal showers, family sessions and weddings. From shooting a wide range of sessions it helped me learn what clients really needed. I kept learning how to exceed their expectations by providing them with images that are perfect for their family, business etc.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

The availability of individual training. Most people only know about conferences or large group trainings. I like more one on one trainings for my business.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I built my audience by posting images that grab attention. I learned which hashtags help pull individuals in. Also I respond to all comments and direct messages whenever I receive them.
