We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Henry Chappell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Henry, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
In life, it’s all about choices. You get to choose to either stay in the box or decide to step outside of the box. It’s all up to you. More specifically to me, I am not afraid to take risks and make sacrifices when it comes to my dream. My dream is to turn my Dreams To Reality. When it comes to my dream to become a professional music artist I will do whatever it takes to make sure I make it happen. Some people will doubt you. Even people you consider the closest to you. But as long as you BELIEVE in yourself, it’s possible. If you can dream it, you can achieve it. Take the risk. Follow your heart and go after whatever is you’re passionate about.
Henry, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well, my stage name is Henni Dreamz to start with. I am an music artist and I perform a lot. I got into making music because I used to always want to sing. I would sing all the time. Music just did something to my spirit when I heard it and still does to this day. But I also used to journal my thoughts in my diary. One day I thought why don’t I write my feelings into a song? I started listening to beats and writing out lyrics on however I would feel at the time. My friends at the time would freestyle and play beats and I remember doing a rap for the first time and seeing all there faces. It was absolutely amazing and epic. And from that point on I began to fall more and more in love with creating magic in the form of songs.
I’m most proud of myself as a whole. I say that because it’s 2023 and we live in a world where it’s difficult to stand out and be yourself without facing ridicule and judgements. However with myself, it never affected me. It never affected me because I know who I am. I know what I want and I would never allow anyone to make me feel less than or unworthy.
What I want people to know about me is that I’m very passionate about what I do. I put my blood, sweat and tears into my music and my craft. I want my music to be a staple for others to go after their dreams as well. I want to inspire people and make them feel like it’s okay to be yourself. It’s okay to never stop chasing your dreams. When people hear my music, I want them to be like “WOW.” I love making people who didn’t believe or that doubted me feel otherwise. I have what it takes and I know that. You should as well.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal that I aspire to achieve with my artistry is to make people feel the words in my music. Every single lyric has a meaning when I write it. However my biggest goal with my artistry when the time comes is to take care of the people who supported me and change their lives. I want to give them everything they could ever ask for and bring them to the top when it’s my time to go.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I don’t have a specific book or something I read. However, I listen to a lot of motivational videos/ speeches. Lots of TD Jakes, Steve Harvey, Mike Brown, etc. When l listen to them or others of the sort it really empowers me and I feel like thats a message/ sign that God is trying to instill into me. To keep going, look forward and never look back. They expand my mind when I hear them speak. They inspire me to turn my pain into passion, into music. I channel my emotions through my music and its really just makes me feel so empowered.
