Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Henry Baker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Henry, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission is to empower individuals to create healthier, more fulfilling lives through transformational cooking. About four years ago, I had weight loss surgery and lost 140 pounds, a journey that completely reshaped my relationship with food, health, and myself. That experience showed me the power of food as a tool for healing and transformation—not just physically, but emotionally and mentally.
This mission is deeply meaningful to me because I’ve walked the path of change, and I know how challenging it can be. My goal is to reach, educate, and inspire people to embrace healthier lifestyles by making cooking approachable, enjoyable, and sustainable. Through teaching how to prepare wholesome and delicious meals, I strive to help others overcome barriers, reconnect with food in a positive way, and take control of their health. It’s not just about recipes—it’s about changing lives, one plate at a time.
The one thing that I think about everyday is when I was almost 400 pounds I used to take my wife and daughter to the beach, drop them off, and pick them up later. I didn’t feel like i belong there. Those are memories that I missed and will never have. I hope to help other parents not to miss out on those precious memories with their family’s.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
About four years ago, I underwent weight loss surgery and lost 140 pounds, a life-changing experience that completely shifted my perspective on food, health, and wellness. This transformation ignited a passion within me to not only rebuild my own relationship with food but to help others do the same. That’s how I found my calling as a Transformational Culinary Coach and started my business, Chef Healthy Henry.
Using my culinary degree and experience, I focus on teaching people how to create nourishing, adventurous, and delicious meals that align with their health goals and lifestyles. My services include personalized cooking classes, virtual workshops, and creative content like recipe videos on social media platforms. My recipes are designed to be approachable, full of flavor, and nutrient-packed—helping clients take the guesswork out of healthy cooking.
The problems I solve for my clients go beyond just food preparation; I help them overcome common barriers like lack of time, knowledge, or confidence in the kitchen. By making cooking fun and accessible, I empower them to embrace healthier lifestyles without sacrificing flavor or enjoyment.
What sets me apart is my personal journey. I’ve been where many of my clients are—feeling overwhelmed and unsure of where to start. My approach is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and the belief that food is a powerful tool for transformation. I combine my culinary expertise with my own lived experience to create recipes and tools that truly resonate with my audience. I help clients overcome the “fear of the kitchen” my helping them be more comfortable and confident by bring their comforts into the kitchen and truly experience the joy of cooking.
I’m most proud of the impact my work has on people’s lives—when clients tell me they feel more confident in the kitchen, more connected to their health goals, or that they’ve found joy in food again, it reaffirms my purpose. For potential clients or followers, I want them to know that Chef Healthy Henry isn’t just about food; it’s about creating a healthier, more fulfilling life through every meal. Together, we can transform your relationship with food and help you thrive.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
As I began my weight loss journey, I realized that transforming my lifestyle was essential, so I started creating healthy recipes for myself. Along the way, I attended weight loss conferences and discovered a powerful truth: so many people wanted to cook and eat healthier but lacked the recipes and motivation to do so. That’s when the idea for my business was born.
I realized that what I was already doing for myself—developing delicious, nutritious meals—could be shared to help others on their own journeys. The thought of combining my personal experience with my passion for cooking to make a difference in people’s lives felt incredibly rewarding. When I returned home, I took that inspiration and laid the foundation for what would become my business, turning my journey into a mission to empower others to lead healthier lives through food.

How did you build your audience on social media?
When I started building my audience on social media, my focus was on authenticity and providing real value. My journey began by sharing my personal story—how I lost 140 pounds after weight loss surgery and transformed my relationship with food. I paired that vulnerability with actionable content, like healthy recipes and cooking tips, that my audience could immediately put to use. Over time, I realized that people connected with me because I wasn’t just showing food—I was sharing a lifestyle, a story, and a purpose.
To grow my audience, I stayed consistent. I created a schedule to post regularly, experimented with different types of content (short recipe videos, behind-the-scenes shots, and motivational posts), and studied what resonated most with my followers. I also made it a priority to engage with my audience—responding to comments and messages, asking questions, and creating content based on their needs.
Another key factor was collaboration. Partnering with brands and engaging with other creators in the health and wellness space helped me expand my reach and connect with like-minded communities. Over time, my audience grew organically because they felt like they were part of the journey, not just watching it.
These are things I tell people when they ask about growing on social media:
Be Authentic: Share your unique story and what sets you apart. People are drawn to real, relatable content.
Focus on Value: Create content that educates, inspires, or entertains. Think about what your audience needs and how you can help solve their problems.
Engage Consistently: Social media is a two-way street. Respond to comments, ask questions, and build relationships with your audience.
Be Patient: Building a social media presence takes time. Celebrate small wins and focus on long-term growth over quick results.
Collaborate: Partner with other creators or brands that align with your mission. Cross-promotion can be a powerful way to grow.
Stay Consistent: Develop a posting schedule you can stick to and show up regularly. Consistency builds trust.
