We were lucky to catch up with Henri Allgood recently and have shared our conversation below.
Henri , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I aspire for my legacy to be a trail of examples of perseverance, consistency and tenacity in the pursuit of ones passion. The mention of legacy puts me in the mind of immortality as your legacy is what lives beyond you. I hope my photos and product offerings inspire generations to come that they’re perspective is unique and they interest are valid so pursue them with all of your heart and mind.

Henri , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
So for starters im a charlotte native the west side of charlotte to be specific. You could describe me as eclectic from my aura, clothing, music taste, and overall outlook on life. I originally got into photography at the top of 2019 after moving back to charlotte after living in Richmond VA for about two years. My intentions for picking up the camera was to shoot album art for a podcast I had in the works which is neither here nor there.
What I offer is a service that can be summed as many things such as image consulting, brand development, visual story telling etc. My photo and video services has helped business owners market effectively, models upgrade they’re portfolio and couples to immortalize memories. I think what set my work apart is what us photographers call an ‘eye’. The way I visualize the end product of the photo grants me the creativity to capture dynamic angles.
What I am currently most proud of in this journey was my first sold out art exhibit called Project Lift Off. I displayed 20 photos from my portfolio coupled with an evening of free wine and music along with the soft release of my first lookbook which contains 60 photos from my portfolio. The main thing I want people to feel about my work is authenticity.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My particular goal/mission for this journey is to become a world renowned photographer have my work displayed in the Louvre, The MOMA and The Smithsonian.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
To build my social media audience in the beginning I would repost photos of those I followed on my instagram story. They would appreciate it and so would I because they would repost what I posted which drove more and more traffic to my page. As my portfolio grew I was able to post on my instagram timeline more consistently about twice a week.
I would say the best hack I came across was posting the individual photos I posted in a post onto my instagram story. This allowed my followers to see all of the photos without necessarily having to see the actual post itself.
My best advice is to follow people and pages in your industry and engage on theyre post that you actually like so the connection can be authentic and organic. Emulate what you believe to be working for others and remember to enjoy the journey and done is better than perfect.
