Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Hennessie Martin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hennessie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My most meaningful project to me, is probably my debut novel, The Paths That Cross. I feel like I let the world into my heart and my mind. While there are some truthful parts to the novel, it is largely fictional. But I think opening myself to allow others to see my heart, mind, my feelings and emotions, isn’t easy for me. The characters all have some sort of aspect of me in it, and it’s just a different type of of vulnerability that I don’t really show a lot, especially to strangers! But it’s out now so I’m excited, still nervous, giddy, happy, everything!

Hennessie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hey yall! I’m Hennessie, brand, personality & CEO of Humble Pressure. I am a fashion model, creative director, and an author!
I started modeling back in college, around 2011-2012 and I use just held onto it. My growth, development and confidence definitely came from being a plus size model. It was something I never even saw for myself, but I’m glad I took the first step! Eventually it led to me wanting to be more hands on and do more so I started offering creative directing solutions. 2021, I started Humble Pressure Modeling, and It’s just taken off from there!
I’ve always been a writer. As a kid I used to fill up composition notebooks with random poems about any and everything, but mainly they all had something to do with love! I knew back then I would be a lover girl and hopeless romantic. So when I first started writing my debut novel, it started off as just random snippets and stories I would scribble down on paper. But then I decided to take it all the way, and with my imagination & things happening around me in my personal life, I used it all to shape what is now my debut novel, which is available on Amazon & Kindle. I wanted to keep all my business ventures under one brand name so I changed my license & brand over to just Humble Pressure and it’s been a success so far, and this is just the beginning!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist, creative, entrepreneur, is that I don’t have to hide or be anything other than me. It also helps with gaining an authentic and genuine audience and supporters. I pride myself on being human, relatable, open, and letting others know that it’s okay to be tha way as well. The problems with us humans is that we are always on! Baby, TURN IT OFF! Relax, chill, take a deep breath, be calm, and feel the breeze and sun on your skin. Allowing myself to be exactly who God made me to be, has put me into places and spaces that faking the funk just won’t fly!

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me is a tie between word of mouth and in person networking. I love meeting new people, and I am a certified yapper, okay? Lol, I like talking to people, especially once I break out of my shell. My friends are also super supportive and often times are telling people about me and my business so I’m super grateful and thankful for them.
