We recently connected with Hendricks and have shared our conversation below.
Hendricks , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I started singing in my church choir when I was about 12 years old. I was pretty shy growing up so singing in the choir helped a lot with my confidence. The more I would sing, the more skilled I’d become. I eventually became the go to birthday singer amongst my friends and family. On one particular birthday,I serenade my friend and she was literally moved to tears and was so appreciative. It was at that moment that I understood my gift and I wanted to share it with the rest of the world.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a professional vocalist, performer, songwriter and host. I started my musical journey as a child singing in the church choir. As I got older,I started opening up for other artist and eventually started creating and performing my own music. I am also a member of a party band, where we perform for private events. Other services I offer are: singing telegrams, song references and hosting. What sets me apart is my energy and passion that I bring to whatever I do. I am very passionate about music and it shows every-time I perform.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect for me is making the client happy. Anytime I can use my gift to brighten someone’s day, makes everything worth wild.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I believe that if you’re not a creative or have an entrepreneurial mindset,it will be hard for you to grasp the concept of having blind faith. You have to almost seem insane and most people are more logical, But to be a true creative you have to really believe in your dream no matter the current circumstances.
