We were lucky to catch up with Hellene Alabi Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Hellene, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When I made crotchet purses for my female family members and they were all so happy

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started crocheting at 5. It was a way to pass time. My mother taught me and my two older sisters, our yarns were old sweaters that were unraveled. We reused those yarns over and over because we were too poor to buy new ones. I realized early in life that I loved working with my hands, crotchet, knitting, sewing, writing it didn’t matter, my imagination always ran wild and I was always so happy. I finally decided to turn a lifelong hobby to a business. Jhime by Hellene was born in December 2023

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Branding is definitely key to my social media presence. I strive to be different and stand out from the crowd in my post making sure my products stands out and my ads are engaging.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I want to build an empire and inspire my fellow Africans to go after their creative dreams. I see Jhimè by Hellene becoming a household name as a designer brand. “The African Louis Vuitton”
