We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hellen Hensel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hellen below.
Hellen, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
I heard one time the following phrase: “A client will become a friend quicker than a friend will become a client”
And this phrase can not be more accurate. And don’t get me wrong, we all have those friends that will support you in everything, no matter what. But we also have those friends that will celebrate with you but won’t be happy for your achievements.
So the reality is that, is amazing have some friends that will support your business and help in anyway they can, but don’t rely so much on those.
Sometimes not having to work with a friend will actually save your friendship as business deals can potentially get messy if you can not draw the line of “this is business and this is friendship”
Hellen, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello, my name is Hellen Hensel. I am originally from South of Brazil and came to USA in 2014 to adventure myself in a interexchange program called Au Pair.
As it right now I am a realtor and work full time at Salesforce. Besides that I have my family that I have full support on keep going with my 2 jobs, as this takes a lot of time away from them – specially the real estate part as I usually need to work while we could be enjoying a sunny weekend out and about.
To give you a background on how I ended up here, I started with Real Estate about 3 years ago, and my decision to become a realtor was made after I had a bad experience on the process of buying my own home. I love help people to achieve their goals and to get their dreams come true. So I thought being a real estate agent would be great for that.
I have helped a handful of people to find their home and for each of them I created a very good relationship, which I believe it is my strength and what makes me different from others.
I’ve helped some coworkers to buy their home just guiding them, as some live in a different state that I am licensed.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Leaving my home country and everything that gives me comfort and stability to come and adventure myself in a foreign country with a different culture and language was a huge accomplishment for me. And for now after a10 years being here in US I can say that I feel home here in WA, this is a big part of my journey that shows how resilient I am. I never gave up on trying new things. I needed to start from zero couple times, and that just made me understand that everyone have their own battles and we should be humble and have empathy to others. Don’t take for granted anything in life.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is a very powerful tool and if you use it right you will be successful in anything. To build your audience in Instagram my main tip is to be yourself and do not try to coy anyone else. Post often and don’t try to fake what you are or have. Nowadays people what to see the real you, so just be you and have genuine connections.
Reply your messages when you can, post videos, photos, be personal if you want. But be you!
