Helena, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Since I was a little girl, I’ve always been creative and loved helping people. My mother raised my sisters and me alone for a very long time. Even in the face of adversity, I watched a woman turn a lot of pain into positivity. She’s always been the kind of person to help someone despite the trials in our lives, always leading with love. We learned to support each other, rely on each other, and that bond, combined with the gifts God blessed me with, made me the woman I am today. The kindness of my mother’s heart, her strength, and belief in any idea I had fueled the passion I needed to see myself. In school, I was always one of the go-to girls for creative projects, ideas, performances, etc. After I graduated, it was the same in my community, with my friends, and, of course, in my family. My sisters (Karen and Tonya) always used to make jokes anytime someone would call my phone, saying things like, “Dang, you’re like a concierge specialist, people always calling you for something,” blah, blah, blah. I’ve been a promoter, a community leader, creative, and makeup artist combined for over 10 years, but something was always missing. I knew there was something off about how I wanted my brand to reflect me and what I love. One day, I was strategizing on my patio, thinking of ways I could actually leave an impact by using my gifts, and I started putting everything on paper. A day turned into a few weeks of putting things I valued creatively and was truly passionate about business-wise into a plan. My sister sat down, and as I went through everything, the concierge joke came up again, and we just started laughing. Then we sat and looked at each other, and we kept saying, “The Concierge.” Then I said, “The Concierge Services of HMN,” and it clicked like a golden ticket in a chocolate bar. I felt a fire light up in me, and we both knew this was it. I finally found what I was looking for, and I knew this would change my life.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Of course, my name is Helena M. Noel, the oldest of three, and I am Haitian American. I have over 5 years of experience advocating for breast cancer awareness, community service for the homeless and underprivileged communities in my city. I’ve been involved in several promotional groups, curating and managing events and nightlife parties. I have over 8 years of experience as a professional makeup artist, and my work has been featured in Compulsive Magazine during NY Fashion Week and in stores like Barnes and Noble’s. Vogue Italia showcased my work with a submission from photographer Philip Ortiz, and I was recognized by one of my inspirations, the talented Danessa Myricks.
I recently launched The Concierge Services of HMN, a fusion of all the creative services I’ve had experience in. Although new and growing, at The Concierge Services of HMN, our mission is to elevate creativity to its fullest potential. We are dedicated to providing unparalleled creative direction, immersive creative events, and expert makeup services. We believe in giving back, and our community service division is committed to making a positive impact. Our ultimate goal is to offer creative services of the highest quality, mirroring the luxury and attention to detail you’d expect from a top-tier concierge service, ensuring that every client’s creative vision becomes a reality.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My mother is a Haitian immigrant who came to this country at a time when she was not always treated fairly because of where she came from. She also endured an unfair marriage, leading to a life she has had to navigate as a single mother raising three girls. She sacrificed herself repeatedly for me and my sisters. Yet, through it all, she still carried a spirit of light and love, making her someone I’ve always admired. The way she nurtures her way through every situation, the support she provides to her family, friends, and peers, and the courage she possesses are magical. The woman who is my heart, who never gave up on me, is why I am so resilient. She is my ‘why,’ my purpose, my motivation. I know that this journey is not easy, and I am willing to do what is necessary to provide for my mother, my family, and even my community in ways she wouldn’t even imagine. I recently started my faith walk, and in the Bible, God states many times that there’s no such thing as living this life without suffering. As long as I keep God at the center of my life and continue to have the love and support of my family, anything is possible, and glory will always be mine.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I believe the most effective way to engage with my audience is by authentically expressing myself and sharing content aligned with my passions. I actively connect with my followers, offering support within my community. I view content as a form of art, recognizing that individual approaches may vary. Identifying what comes naturally to you and embracing it can attract your like-minded community and desired brand collaborations. It’s crucial to remember that, irrespective of follower count, you carry influence. Brands and audiences are drawn to authenticity, so staying true to yourself is key.
