We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Heidi Samia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Heidi below.
Hi Heidi , thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Eleanor Rose Home is deeply personal to me and reflects both the inspiration behind the brand and my love for creating cozy, inviting spaces.
Eleanor comes from our dachshund rescue, who has been a source of joy for our family for over 11 years. She’s truly the apple of our eyes! She taught us the importance of home as a place of love, comfort, and security, and it felt only fitting to honor her in the name of my brand.
Rose represents the timeless beauty and warmth that I strive to bring into every space I style. Roses are often associated with nostalgia, love, and cherished memories, things that I want to help others create and experience in their homes.
So together, I think Eleanor and Rose symbolize the balance of comfort, sentiment, and beauty, which are at the core of everything both I and Eleanor Rose Home stand for.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Heidi the heart and hands behind Eleanor Rose Home, a place where I help others create cozy, meaningful spaces that bring warmth, comfort, and joy into their lives. My journey into the world of home decor and lifestyle began with a personal passion for creating a space that felt like home, where I could relax and recharge. Over the years, my love for home styling, DIY projects, and vintage inspired design grew, and I realized that I wanted to share that joy with others.
I started Eleanor Rose Home with the simple mission of helping others decorate their homes that aren’t just beautiful, but that reflect their personal style, values, and memories. The inspiration behind the brand comes from our dachshund rescue, Eleanor, who taught me so much about creating a safe, loving environment. Through her, I came to understand that a home is more than just a place to live—it’s where we feel at peace, make lasting memories, and truly connect with the people (and pets!) we love.
Through the blog and social media, I share home decor inspiration, styling tips, DIY projects, and comforting recipes to help others make their homes feel cozy and inviting. Whether someone is looking for ideas on how to incorporate vintage pieces into their space, how to make a simple DIY project, or how to transform their home with subtle seasonal touches, I’m here to provide the inspiration and know-how to help readers/followers do just that. I also share product recommendations, such as affordable home finds and ways to make the most of what you already have in your home.
One of the key problems I solve for my followers is how to make a home feel both beautiful and meaningful without spending a fortune. I focus on creating spaces that reflect the individuals who live in them, and I do this by offering practical, easy-to-follow advice that anyone can use to transform their space. I also focus on nostalgia, helping others incorporate vintage and sentimental items into their decor to evoke feelings of warmth and connection to the past. From creating a cozy corner to curating a meaningful gallery wall, or making homemade gifts, I help people find ways to infuse their spaces with love and meaning.
I think what sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity and creating spaces that feel like you—no matter your budget or style. I believe that home is not just about perfect decor, but about making the space work for you, creating a place that makes you feel at ease and surrounded by love. I don’t believe in trends for trends’ sake; instead, I focus on creating timeless, cozy spaces that are true to each person’s personality and needs.
I’m most proud of the community I’ve built around Eleanor Rose Home. Over the years, I’ve connected with so many people who share the same love for home decor and the feeling of nostalgia. I love hearing stories from my followers about how they’ve applied my tips in their own homes or how a simple DIY project has made a difference in their day-to-day lives. Knowing that I’ve helped people create spaces where they feel happy, peaceful, and connected is truly the most rewarding part of what I do.
If you’re not a follower of Eleanor Rose Home, I want you to know that this is more than just a blog or a business—it’s a small corner of the internet where I share my passion for making homes cozy and full of love. It’s a place where I hope to inspire you to find joy in the little things, to embrace the charm of vintage and nostalgic pieces, and to create a home that feels like your own personal sanctuary.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media has been a journey, not always an easy one, but it’s allowed me to connect with so many people who share my love for cozy living and home decor. When I first started Eleanor Rose Home, I focused on sharing what I was passionate about, creating beautiful, meaningful spaces, embracing nostalgia, and offering easy DIY projects and decor tips. I believe the key to growing my audience was staying authentic and consistent, and being open to learning and evolving along the way.
I started by sharing my own home, how I styled rooms, added personal touches, and incorporated vintage pieces. I didn’t worry too much about trying to fit into a specific mold or follow trends; instead, I focused on what felt true to me and the way I wanted to inspire others. I also began to share the stories behind my projects because people connect with that personal touch.
In addition to sharing my own home, I started engaging with others. I commented on other creators’ posts, responded to comments on my own posts, and made a genuine effort to build relationships. Social media is about community, and building a relationship with your followers is just as important as creating content. I made sure to ask questions, encourage conversation, and share my followers’ own projects when they tagged me. Over time, these connections turned into a community of people who not only followed my work but also shared their own journeys with me.
My advice for anyone just starting to build a social media presence would be:
Be authentic: Share what you genuinely love. People connect with real stories and genuine passions. Don’t try to be someone you’re not to fit into a particular niche. Your unique voice is what will resonate the most.
Engage with others: Social media isn’t just about posting content; it’s about building relationships. Comment on others’ posts, respond to your followers, and be an active part of the community. Building connections is key.
Consistency is important: Whether you’re posting once a week or every day, consistency helps build trust and keeps your audience engaged. Create a schedule that works for you, and stick with it.
Focus on quality over quantity: It’s easy to get caught up in trying to post all the time, but I’ve found that taking the time to post meaningful, high-quality content is more important than posting constantly. Make sure your content reflects the message you want to share.
Be patient and persistent: Building a meaningful audience takes time. You won’t see immediate results, and that’s okay. Stay true to your mission, keep engaging with your audience, and trust that your community will grow as you continue sharing what you love.
Building an audience on social media is an ongoing journey, but by being authentic, consistent, and engaged, you can create a community of people who genuinely connect with your work and what you stand for.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
One thing that I think non-creatives might struggle to understand is the amount of emotional and mental energy that goes into creating. Creativity isn’t just about the “fun” part of designing a space or coming up with ideas—it can be mentally exhausting. There are moments when I feel truly inspired, and other times when I hit a creative block or doubt myself. It’s not always smooth sailing. The process can be filled with self-questioning, overthinking, and sometimes feeling like I’m not doing enough, even when I am.
Another aspect of being a creative that might be hard to understand is how much of my personal life becomes intertwined with my work. For me, creating something to share isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s deeply personal. Blog posts, DIY projects, or home styling idea, are a reflection of my values, passions, and even my emotions. When I share something, I’m also sharing a part of myself. This can feel vulnerable at times, and there’s a certain level of courage in putting my work out there for others to see, critique, or even ignore.
Lastly, the balancing act of being a creative while also running a business is something that might be hard for non-creatives to fully appreciate. There’s the time spent crafting, designing, and experimenting, but then there’s also the other side—the planning, the strategy, the marketing, and the business management. I often joke that I’m 50% creative and 50% admin, but it’s a real challenge to switch between both modes. Sometimes I miss the freedom to just create without thinking about numbers or deadlines.
For non-creatives, it might be difficult to understand the constant “idea storm” that comes with being a creative. Ideas can pop up all the time, and I’m constantly thinking about ways to improve or innovate. There’s a sense of never feeling like the work is truly “done,” because there’s always something new to try, something to tweak, or another project to start.
That said, I think these struggles can also be incredibly rewarding. Being a creative has taught me a lot about resilience, vulnerability, and trusting the process, even when it feels uncertain. It’s a journey of constant growth, and while it can be difficult at times, it’s also filled with passion, joy, and the satisfaction of creating something that connects with others.
