We recently connected with Heidi Fawver and have shared our conversation below.
Heidi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
Working with wood and pyrography is a small medium to work with in the art world. I’d love to discuss more on hw I started doing it and my growth and journey being an independent artist
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a local artist born and raised in Canton, OH. Always have been into art, but jumped really into it within the last year, picking up pyrography ( wood-burning). As a lesser known craft, I really enjoy learning more and more about techniques and trial and error with the tools.
My art is based off of the natural world, including animals , flowers, and anything from the earth. Not only do I burn on wood, I burn on leather, clothing and animal skulls. I also do photography along with art, including weddings, portrait, street fashion, and more!
For customers, I do custom work including portraits, pet portraits, anniversary gifts, and anything that people request .
The thing I’m most proud of would be me jumping out of my regular 9-5 job to go full time artist and photography. It’s been a huge learning and growing adventure, but I’m happier than I’ve ever been, as well as successful.
Everything I create, I create with love and intention and pour my everything into it all, and that’s what I hope each client feels and sees when they reach out to me for work.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I had my first ever solo art show at The Hub Art Factory last April , and it was more successful than I could ever imagine! Having this experience and seeing people enjoy my creations meant the absolute world, and opened my eyes to the possibility of becoming a full time creator.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Having a studio at The Hub Art Factory not only opened me up for growth as an artist, and meeting amazing creators, but building up clients who continuously come back for more work . It’s really solidified a foundation of people who support my art for me.
