Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Heidi Abra. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Heidi, thanks for joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
One of the things that truly sets my brand apart is the craftsmanship and care that goes into every piece. All of my designs are handmade right here in Los Angeles by a small team of skilled artisans. In an industry that often prioritizes mass production, I’ve chosen to keep things intimate and hands-on, ensuring each piece is made with incredible attention to detail and quality.
Another way I diverge from the industry standard is through my use of vintage textiles. By sourcing and repurposing these materials, I’m not only creating one-of-a-kind pieces, but I’m also making sustainability a core part of my brand. There’s something special about giving new life to fabrics that have their own history—each piece carries a story, making it truly unique.
I’ve had customers tell me that they love knowing their garment isn’t just another off-the-rack item, but something with character, craftsmanship, and sustainability at its heart. That’s the kind of connection I hope to bring to every piece I create.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was in art school at CalArts studying photography when I started designing jewelry on the side using antique glass beads. What began as a small creative passion quickly became the foundation of my design career. From there, I naturally expanded into gemstone jewelry, then accessories, then clothing—learning, evolving, and refining my craft with each step. It was an organic journey, guided by a love for beauty, originality, and artistry.
Now, I design and create with a small group of local skilled artisans, crafting jewelry, clothing, accessories, and home goods that embody uniqueness and authenticity. Every piece carries a human touch. I personally hand-dye many of the textiles, ensuring rich, layered hues that feel both timeless and soulful. I carefully source rare, vintage fabrics and shawls, breathing new life into materials with history and character. Most of my designs are one-of-a-kind or produced in limited editions, celebrating individuality and the art of slow, intentional creation.
Sustainability and craftsmanship are at the heart of my work. I believe in honoring the materials I use, embracing imperfections, and creating pieces that feel deeply personal. Each design is infused with love and an appreciation for beauty—meant to be treasured, worn, and lived in. My hope is that when someone wears or owns one of my pieces, they feel a connection to its story, its artistry, and the idea that true beauty lies in uniqueness.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to create beauty—something deeply needed in the world, especially in the times we find ourselves in. But not just surface beauty; I strive to create a soulful, meaningful kind of beauty that resonates on a deeper level. Every piece I design carries intention, artistry, and emotion, meant to inspire a sense of connection and inner warmth. I want the people who own my pieces to feel that beauty within themselves—to experience something that goes beyond fashion or decor and touches the soul.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe my reputation has been built on always staying true to my vision—never compromising on creativity, originality, or craftsmanship. From the beginning, I’ve been committed to using high-quality materials and thoughtful construction, ensuring that every piece is made with care and integrity. My designs stand out because they are unique, often one-of-a-kind or limited edition, with a deep appreciation for artistry and sustainability. By staying authentic to my creative journey and focusing on quality over trends, I’ve been able to build a loyal following of people who connect with the beauty and soul behind my work.
