We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hedras Ramos Sr. a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hedras, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
First of all, I want to thank you for giving me again the honor of sharing a bit of my personal story with you and your readers.
I think this question is connected to when I got my first guitar.
I was 11 years old when my dad gave me his guitar as a gift, I remember him singing and playing that old acoustic guitar and that inspired me. My love for the instrument was such that without me realizing it became part of my daily life. Little did I know that during my teenage years this beautiful instrument would lead me to a satisfying career as a Music Producer and Professional Musician.
I remember that during those early days, I spent countless hours playing the guitar and that I practically taught myself how to play it just by listening to the records and cassettes of my favorite artists and learning the chords of the songs and guitar solos.

Hedras, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I would say that the Christian church played a major role in what I became in the music world by providing me the platform to hone my skills and build the foundation of my career as a Producer and Musician. It was in the church where I had the first chance to perform live which raised the need to put my song ideas together and led me to equip myself in the areas of writing original lyrics, composing, arranging, recording, mixing, and leading people. These long years of experience first as a member of the Worship team at my local church and later as a Musical Director gave me the field experience of perfecting my craft by producing around 20 albums, leading and putting together bands, recording, and mixing them. The fact that you deal with different talents and are exposed to amazing talents is inspiring and helps a lot to become a better version of yourself.
These first steps of experience in the church (without me noticing it), opened the door to the world of Audio Production in the advertising world. It was in this new world where on a daily basis I had the chance to let my imagination and creativity run wild by being challenged to develop new musical ideas for every project, which in turn resulted in producing 2500+ Audio/Video Productions (hundreds of Jingles among them) and counting… for top names and brands in the world, aided with the support of amazing talents in other related areas of production like Voice-Overs, Creative Directors, Singers, and fellow musicians.
Audio 7 Productions has been the platform I’ve been blessed with to deliver a broad range of services that include Audio/Music Production, Audio/Video Editing, and Bilingual Voice-Over Talents. There are other areas of my expertise that overlap in several areas with the SPANISH language, like Translation, Localization, Proofreading, and Conversion (cloning) of English videos to Spanish so clients end up with a perfect version in Spanish of their original video in English.
One of the main advantages my clients have of working with me is that they will deal only with one guy, and this rich blend of experiences in the different areas mentioned above allows me to consistently deliver top-notch results with the projects they entrusted me with. I have made it my mission to become a one-stop solution to my client’s needs and make it happen for them.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I’d like to approach this question from two different angles, although they relate to each other.
As a Rock Guitar Player, there’s something really special when you perform live on stage before an audience, there are so many things going on in your mind in a fraction of a second when you hear your guitar blasting through your amp and then being amplified on powerful PA system, then you have the synergy of your fellow musicians, and then you have a huge crowd chanting your song at the top of their longs, that’s a huge reward that connects with the most inner part of your soul.
On the other hand as a Producer and Bilingual VO, it’s great satisfaction and feels like a reward when you hear one of your songs on the radio or watch a TV commercial that you produced or are part of as a Voice-Over or any other role going national.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Creativity is very crucial for human progress and well-being. It drives innovation, solves problems, and enriches our lives. Unfortunately, artists and creatives often face financial insecurity, lack of recognition, and discrimination. They may also struggle to find affordable housing and studio space.
One important step is to increase government funding for the arts. This could include funding for arts education, grants for artists, and support for arts organizations. Businesses can also play a role by supporting the arts through tax breaks and other financial incentives.
The promotion of new and up-and-coming artists and creatives through public awareness campaigns is as vital as education programs. This will help to build an audience for their work and create a more supportive environment for them to thrive.
Finally, we need to support the development of a thriving creative ecosystem. This includes supporting arts districts, festivals, and other events that bring artists and creatives together. By taking these steps, we can create a society where artists and creatives are valued and supported, and where their contributions can be fully realized.
