We recently connected with Hebert Smith and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Hebert , thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

The mission of Lionz Supplements is to provide all-natural wellness supplements to support physicals and mental health.

The mission is important to me because I have had a number of family members lives cut short and go unfulfilled due to medical and mental healthy issues. My father struggled with depression and PTSD. He was also diagnosed with diabetes in his early 40’s. he struggled with managing his blood sugars and ultimately passed away at 64 after a long battle with the disease. My younger brother passed away at 27 also due to diabetes and other mental health issues. Knowing how this has affected me I don’t want anyone else to fell that kid of pain.

I also had a significant injury right after my brothers untimely death that left me a lot of time. I began researching not only what would help my body heal after rupturing my Achilles, but also what we would help my mind. I came across Sea Moss and Lions Mane mushroom, which are now the two staple products of my business..

By providing supplements that have little to no side effects, that are a much healthier alternative to modern medicine, it gives those who are in search such items a way to live a optimal lifestyle.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I started researching natural ways to heal the body after rupturing my Achilles in 2019.

One of the most powerful supplements that I could find was Seamoss. As a cousin to Seaweed, this natural sea algae contains over 92 minerals (Our body need 102). After seeing how it could help all of the bodies’ systems, I can began taking it. I could immediately feel the difference, I had more energy, I slept better,, I could think better. Everything just fell like it got a boost. After a while I thought to myself that everyone needs to be taking this. Then I started coming up with ways to give other people samples to see if they feel like I did. People loved it and would ask for more. I knew I had something then.

The one knock on Sea Moss is it fishy taste. I began to think of what could I do to mitigate that. living in Arizona, where is hot all of the time, I think that by mixing the Seamoss into a drink would make it easier for all to consume. From there, Lionz Juice was born. I mixed the Sea Moss, with coconut water (for hydration and electrolytes), Alkaline water (for minerals), Key Limes (for antioxidation and metabolism, and fresh juice (for vitamins and flavor). I gave out to people and they loved it. People would say why aren’t you selling this. So I started selling it lol.

Lions Mane Mushrooms have been used for centuries for its many medicinal purposes. It is in Chinese medicine for its health benefits that encompass supporting cognition and mood and reducing anxiety and inflammation. It can help with that that suffer from anxiety or not felling well/happy. What separates my product from the rest is that I source my Lion’s mane from a local farm out of San Tan Arizona. the process that they use preserves the mushroom in a way to make it more powerful that most other supplements. It is grown organically and with no pesticides.

I want everyone to know that all of the drinks or hand made by myself and my wife. We take pride in this. We chose the name Lionz Supplements because me and my wife are both Leos.

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.

Yes, we make every single product.

We get our Seamoss from Grenada which is in the Caribbean Sea. It is shipped and then delivered in bulk. From were break it down in smaller pieces and see it by the ounce.

For Lionz Juice. We juice every fruit, using a juicer, and then pour it into the bottle. We juice every key lime before mixing it into the drink. We infuse 1-2 tablespoons into every Lionz Juice.

For the Lionz Mane we get the powder from the local farm and make the pill ourselves.

When making the drinks I didn’t realize how much work that it is. To juice everything, put all ingredients in the bottle, mix it, then put the label and cap on, it takes about an hour to make about 20 drinks. Once I get a better juicer, I may be able to reduce this time in about half.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I think will be best done by word of mouth. Most people in the natural wellness space don’t watch main stream media. But by people talking about my products and discussing how it benefits them is how my reputation will build.

Also by creating genuine connections with people. Doing some pop-up events and eventually some farmers markets will be a great start. Talking to people and letting them that there is a natural way to feel better will be effective in spreading the message.
