Heaven , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?

I believe to be successful you have to be able to adapt . In this day in age the trends are always changing and this happens faster than usual now that we have technology. With my hair business I had hit a brick wall and I couldn’t figure out why. Later down the line I figured out that it was because my business was still the same from when I first started . You have to get into the editing , the content and promotions these days because that is where the real money lies .

Heaven , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

It’s very funny because I got into being a hairstylist and a social media influencer on accident . With hair I was always doing my own so people would ask me to do theirs. One day I uploaded pictures of my friends hair to Facebook , the style was butterfly locs. I uploaded the pictures with a price and I’ve had clients ever since . With social media influencing I was ordering SHEIN clothes and started making hauls for fun . They very quickly started to go viral and after that I decided it was a world I wanted to step into . In both worlds I believe what sets me apart is the fact that I’m forever evolving. I am always thinking of what I can do better in my businesses to take them to the next level . I then take the steps necessary to make sure my businesses are top notch .

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?

Yes , I believe reading should always be implemented throughout your daily life because knowledge really is power. My favorite book that has helped with my entrepreneurship journey would have to be “Ask and it is Given” by Esther and Jerry hicks . I love this book because it helps you understand how in control you are of your day to day life . It also serves as a guide on how to improve your life financially and mentally. I definitely think everyone should read this book at-least once in their lifetime .

How did you build your audience on social media?

I started to build my audience by posting clothing hauls and everyone just loved them. I used that momentum and kept posting hauls until I got to about 11k on TikTok and then I took a break . When I started back up I completely shifted and started to do hair tutorials. Now , I try to mix my content so my audience gets the best of both worlds . My advice for others would just have to be enjoy what you’re doing . You have to enjoy the content you’re putting out and you also have to be doing it for the right reasons . Be you and be unique . Your audience will start to gravitate to you and they’ll tell you which type of content you produce that they love the most . Until then , enjoy yourself on social media and make great quality content.
