Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Heather Zassoda-neals. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Heather, thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
The legacy I want to create is one that unites the barbering world, bringing together people of all ethnicities, especially here in the South. My goal is to build generational wealth for my children, giving them the opportunity to start their own businesses and create their own legacies. I also hope to be remembered for making a positive and safe community for my clients, leaving a lasting impact on the lives I touch.

Heather, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Being a female barber sets me apart in this male-dominated industry. I take pride in my ability to serve clients of all ethnicities, delivering the same high-quality cuts to everyone who sits in my chair. My vision and skills allow me to bring my clients’ ideas to life while guiding them toward the look they desire. With over a decade of experience, I’ve developed unique techniques and insights that make my work truly stand out. One thing I always emphasize is that consistency is the foundation of a strong business—it’s what keeps clients coming back time and time again. I am incredibly proud of the time and dedication I’ve invested in perfecting my craft. My ability to provide exceptional service to clients of all ethnicities and backgrounds sets me apart. The additional education and training I’ve poured into my business have truly elevated me in this industry. I’ve built a reputation around my brand with the motto Unite in Diversity, reflecting my commitment to inclusivity and excellence of my brand.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
The journey I experienced during 2020 was nothing short of wild. With the challenges of COVID, being pregnant, losing my workspace, and transitioning to working from home, it was a season of uncertainty. In 2021, I took a leap of faith, secured a new space, and remodeled it—all while caring for a newborn and praying for success. Fast forward four years, and we now have a thriving shop filled with loyal clients and a team built on great teamwork. That leap of faith has blessed me beyond my dreams and opened the door to even greater opportunities.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What built my reputation was my consistency—both in my schedule and the quality of my haircuts. Being reliable and delivering consistent results earned the trust of my clients. I’ve also created a welcoming space for mixed families, where they can bring their kids, feel a sense of community, and experience genuine care and love while sitting in my chair.
