Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Heather Robinson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Heather thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
To be honest, I never filled out this application because I couldn’t answer this question, and I KNEW it was the question I needed to answer, so thank you for your patience. I’ve wrestled with it for months, and have felt guilty that I couldn’t think of anything they did right. Until it became so crystal clear and obvious… they did the best they could. That’s the thing they did right… their best.
Their parenting choices and the ways they raised me may not be aligned with me, they may have caused me a lot of pain and struggle in life, but I also don’t hate them for it or resent them in the slightest, because I know they did their best. I also know that I NEEDED it all, in order to fulfill my mission and life’s work, to do what I do now in guiding women and mothers back to themselves, their truth, and their power. If I didn’t have those experiences as a child to grow from, I simply wouldn’t be on this journey. So, I’m GRATEFUL for those things that ‘hurt’ me, because that’s part of the soul contract, the agreement, the divine orchestration of creating circumstances that would catalyze me in the direction of my purpose.
My parents did their best, and I’m so grateful for their part in my life.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Heather, the Founder of Terra Embodied. I’m a Guide for Inner Mother Healing, Conscious Re-parenting, Inner Child and Mother Wound Healing, and Best-Selling Author.
I guide women and mothers back to themselves, their truth, and their power. I support them as they evolve beyond the BS limiting core beliefs that keep them disconnected from their essence. By harnessing the mother archetype to transform their inner mother, and using somatic healing practices to reconnect with themselves, I guide them on a journey of deep self devotion.
It is my mission for women to remember their power and reconnect with the unconditional love they long for.
I came to this work through my own realization of how disconnected I was from my body. This realization came in the form of a traumatic birth to my son 4 years ago. My disconnection from my body, not listening to its signals and wisdom, and giving my power away bits at a time throughout my pregnancy led to a labor and delivery that stripped me of my power completely so that I’d realize how much I had been giving it away all along. This experience was the catalyst for my journey to healing deep childhood wounds, patterns, and behaviors, as well as reconnecting with my body and honoring it, and remembering my power.
I created Terra Embodied to be a place where women and mothers can lean into the guidance of Mother Earth, the Divine Mother, and embody the wisdom of the mother archetype to become the Matriarch and powerhouse woman we’re all destined to be. Terra means Goddess of the Earth, and here we aim to become masters of our earthly bodies, learning how it communicates and wants to be nurtured, showing us how to sustain our growth and thrive.
By slowing down, honoring cycles, and nourishing our mind, body, and spirit we’re able to reconnect with and anchor into our truth. We prioritize play and pleasure, and use joy as our compass as we heal, reprogram, and transform. We seek to cultivate harmonious relationships within, between our inner child and inner mother, and watch our outer relations harmonize in tune.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I’d say that the biggest proof of my resilience is my unwavering dedication to becoming a better parent and continuing to share my offerings even when it’s been difficult or I when I felt like nobody was paying attention. I spent the first 2 years of my parenting journey healing and focusing on the things that I needed to heal in order to be a better parent. I went through a legal battle in year 2 as well, and the entire time I was figuring out how to build a business around it and turn my experience into offerings and support for others who needed to remember their power too because legal battles with kids involved is next level terrifying. But in the past 4 years I have been able to not only be a solo parent and heal in a myriad of ways, but I was also published in 3 books, fought and won a legal battle, and built an empowering business.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Oh, just one?! Parenting and owning a business is like a roller coaster that constantly gives you whiplash with the amount of times you have to pivot even in a single day! But I think you’re asking more of a big picture pivot. Last year I had to really pivot my energy away from business so that I could allow it the space to breath and grow into a life of its own. I got other jobs to sustain myself, I needed to secure more of a financial foundation for myself and my son to release the pressure on my business and allow the creativity and inspiration to flow again. This pivot went against every cell in my body and it fought against these other jobs the entire time. I was able to recognize this given the work I’ve done to reconnect with my body, and this time I honored it. I realigned everything within a few short months, and pivoted into a better situation that served everyone well and has allowed my business to slowly come alive again. Sometimes pivots take us further away from alignment just to bring us deeper into alignment again.
