Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Heather Pardieu. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Heather thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
Absolutely! Setting aside time to unwind and recharge is essential, regardless of your occupation. As for me, traveling is ingrained in my very being; I genuinely love meeting new people, sampling their local cuisines, and exploring a diverse range of landscapes. My message to whoever is reading this is to fully embrace and explore this life! I assure you that when you return, you’ll be filled with fantastic stories and a whole lot of inspiration.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started working in the fashion industry in 2016 by assisting other Stylist throughout Los Angeles. That experience then led into a variety of solo projects styling celebrities, advertising, television and also helping others with their personal wardrobe. Once 2020 hit, I had a lot of time (like most) to really think about what I wanted for myself longterm. At that point in my life, I had been itching to explore a new creative outlet but I wasn’t quite sure as of what it would be. During the later part of December 2021 an opportunity came my way for a potential residential project so I reached out to my best friend and fellow designer, Ramie Roth, to share with her the news. Both Ramie & I had talked many times before about working on an Interior Design project together but never really knew how to turn it into a reality. So we put together a proposal and presented it to the couple and they both loved it so away we went starting a design company called Foxfeather Design. That residential project took both Ramie & I one year to complete which included four interior rooms and one patio. Fast forward to today, Ramie has decided to focus her energy on her furniture designs (@foxandden) and for myself I have been going full speed with Foxfeather Design. So much that in October of 2023, I made the decision to enroll myself into the Architecture of Interiors program @ UCLA Extension so that I could expand my knowledge and grow to be the designer that I dream of. What a wild ride it has been! Returning to school was never apart of my bigger plan but let me tell you, going back to school later in life is a whole other ballgame. I am excited to be learning, I feel focused and I continue to feel more confident as each quarter passes me by. I have a great deal of gratitude towards every opportunity that has come my way and will continue to do my best as a newbie in the design world.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I find that to be a straightforward answer because as an artist, I am able to express myself to the world through my fashion and interior designs. Both of these outlets bring me a deep sense of fulfillment and joy!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Referrals baby! There’s nothing quite as rewarding as getting a call or email from a new prospective client who learned about me through a satisfied previous client.
