Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Heather Maroudas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Heather thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
My Journey speaks to both deep resilience and purpose, how my practice grew out of both personal healing and the desire to create a different kind of healthcare experience for others. Its no small thing to turn trauma into a mission of healing for others. That’s how Med Spa Bar + Wellness center came to life.
If I had a defining moment, it would be when I was first trained to go beyond just answering questions and instead really listen – to hear the patterns, the emotions, the pain points beyond the words people use. It was a shift from “information delivery” to connection. That change deepened how I show up for people like my patients. My patients come from all walks of life and have eclectic backgrounds.
A moment that changed the trajectory of my career were the countless woman who looked at me with tear in their eyes telling me that I made a difference simply by listening, by seeing them when no one else did. It’s the kind of moment that not only validates the sacrifices and doubts, but also becomes fuel to keep going when things get hard.
Stepping into the unknown with faith, especially in a system that often prioritizes speed over soul, is no small act. It takes guts and grace. And the fact that my calling is forged not just through personal healing but through bearing witness to others’ pain and transformation is sacred work.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Heather Maroudas, a board-certified family nurse practitioner and certified nurse-midwife with over 20 years of experience in providing comprehensive, holistic care. My journey into healthcare started with a deep desire to be the kind of provider I wish so many of my patients had encountered earlier in their lives—one who truly listens, sees the whole person, and treats the root cause rather than just the symptoms.
My passion lies in healing that goes beyond the physical—I believe in treating the mind, body, and soul. Through a Christ-centered lens, my practice integrates evidence-based medicine with spiritual and emotional wellness, because lasting health requires harmony in all areas of life.
At Med Spa Bar + Wellness Center, we offer a wide range of services including:
Hormonal balance & thyroid optimization
Bioidentical hormone therapy
Weight loss support
Advanced aesthetics like Botox, fillers, radiofrequency and microcurrent facials, and chemical peels
PRP treatments for joints, hair restoration, and intimate wellness
Behavioral health services that honor the whole person
What sets us apart is our relentless pursuit of uncovering the root cause of each individual’s health concerns and treating them with compassion, dignity, and deep listening. I’m most proud of the moments where patients look me in the eye with tears and say, “Because you heard me, my life has changed.” Those are the moments that remind me why I do this.
Outside of the clinic, I’m a wife and mother of four living in beautiful San Antonio. I founded the nonprofit Bridging Whole Health to extend care to underserved communities, and I stay actively involved in women’s ministry, support groups, and international missions.
Whether you’re struggling with chronic fatigue, hormonal imbalance, or just seeking a provider who sees you, I want you to know: healing is possible. And you don’t have to do it alone.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Beyond my clinical training and education, what has truly helped me succeed in my career is something more multifaceted—and deeply personal. I had to learn that success doesn’t come from constant hustle or burnout. In fact, burning myself out was the fastest way to lose sight of why I started this work in the first place. I realized that rest is not optional—it’s essential. It’s what keeps my heart soft, my passion alive, and my capacity to care sustainable.
To show up fully for others, I have to first show up for myself. That means intentionally creating balance in my everyday life—through devotionals, prayer, yoga, exercise, and time with my family. This rhythm of rest and renewal isn’t just part of my lifestyle, it’s part of my calling. It’s what allows me to give deeply, without losing myself in the giving.

Can you open up about how you managed the initial funding?
Starting my practice wasn’t just a business decision—it was a calling. But like most callings, it came without a fully mapped-out financial plan. I didn’t have investors waiting in the wings or a massive savings account. What I did have was a deep conviction that this kind of whole-person care—mind, body, and soul—had to exist. And I was willing to do whatever it took to bring it to life.
I pulled together my initial capital from a mix of savings, pop up events, and sheer determination. I said no to a lot of comforts and conveniences in those early days. I took on extra work, got creative with budgeting, and leaned into my faith every step of the way. There were sleepless nights and moments of doubt, but I held onto the belief that if I created a space rooted in purpose and healing, the provision would come.
And it did.
It didn’t happen all at once, but doors opened, people showed up, and resources came when I needed them most. Looking back, I realize that the process of funding the business wasn’t just about money—it was about learning to trust, to persevere, and to believe in the vision even before others could see it.
