Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Heather Mack. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Heather , thanks for joining us today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
One of the kindest things anyone has ever done for me was teach me how to love myself. It happened in 2019 at Burning Man, and it profoundly changed my life. I arrived with little awareness of the transformative environment I was stepping into, feeling unprepared both externally and internally. I had brought practical things—a mask, lights, a bike—but didn’t realize the freedom of expression that was such a huge part of the experience. I was in exercise shorts and tank tops, and after just one day, I felt completely out of place. I was beating myself up for not being able to express myself freely like everyone else.
Then, an angelic being came fluttering into my life. This beautiful soul, who was in my camp, gave me full access to her entire wardrobe—hats, coats, dresses, boots—and let me wear whatever magical adornments she had brought. I was in awe. At that time in my life, I hadn’t experienced true generosity, compassion, and love like that. I remember thinking, What does she want from me in return? It was so foreign to me that someone would offer so much out of pure kindness.
As we spent more time together, she gently brought my attention to the negative way I spoke about myself. One night, while we were out dancing, I had brought a camelback filled with water. When I noticed everyone was thirsty, I happily shared with the group, but then I said something self-deprecating like, “That’s the only reason people are hanging out with me—I have water.” She turned to me, looked me straight in the eyes, and said with such intensity, “Why did you say that?” I tried to laugh it off, saying I was just trying to be funny, but she wasn’t having it. She told me, “There’s nothing funny about that,” and explained how the way we speak, even as a joke, shapes our reality. How words cast spells. She reminded me that the way I speak about myself is how others will see me and speak to me.
That moment shifted something deep inside me. This fairy, who I now see as a guardian angel in many of my plant medicine journeys, taught me the importance of loving myself and being mindful of my words. Her kindness didn’t stop at the material gifts she shared, but extended into the spiritual and emotional lessons she gifted me. Through the years, she has picked me up in my most broken moments, always reminding me of the strength, love, and resilience within.
Her generosity, both physical and emotional, changed my life in ways I couldn’t have imagined, and I’m forever grateful for that. Today, I carry her teachings with me, sharing them with others in my work. I am honored to support her as she shares her wisdom with the world through her #1 WSJ Best-Selling book, 5 Practices of Highly Resilient People: Why Some Flourish and Others Fold.
I am also humbled to be a contributing author in her next book, Triumphs of Transformation: Inspiring Stories of Resilience and Life Change, coming out this fall in November, 11 (11/11) 2024. This book is a compilation of powerful stories of overcoming adversity from various thought leaders, celebrities, entrepreneurs and changemakers.
Thank you, Taryn, for and leading with kindness and being a life-changing force in my life.
Heather , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My mission is deeply rooted in transformation and connection—within ourselves, our community, and the world around us. This path into holistic life coaching, alternative healing practices, and conscious event curation evolved naturally from my own healing journey. After years of navigating corporate America while struggling with anxiety, depression, and addiction, I reached a pivotal point where I had to make a change—not just for survival, but for true, soul-aligned living.
The services I offer are designed for individuals who are ready to move beyond surface-level changes and dive into deep, transformational work. Through modalities like Kambo, earth medicines, and various spiritual practices, I guide clients to explore the root causes of their pain and release what no longer serves them. This work isn’t about temporary fixes; it’s about creating lasting shifts in mindset, energy, and self-perception.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of what I do is witnessing my clients as they unlock their own inner power. While I guide and support them, the real transformation happens when they realize they are the medicine—that everything they need to heal is already within them. My role is to help them access that potential and trust in their own ability to transform.
What sets my work apart is that it’s grounded in lived experience. I deeply understand the struggles my clients face because I’ve walked through similar fires myself. This lived experience brings a level of compassion and empathy that ensures each person feels truly seen, heard, and supported throughout their journey.
In addition to personal healing ceremonies, we also curate conscious events. These gatherings are created with the intention of cultivating a loving environment where small businesses and entrepreneurs can shine, recognizing that we all rise together. The events are deeply transformative, empowering, and connective—not just for individuals but also for the conscious businesses we support. These sacred spaces allow participants to reconnect with their inner selves, tap into their healing power, and build a strong sense of community. By providing a platform for small, conscious businesses, we help entrepreneurs align with their values, share their (divine) gifts, and thrive. Through intentional workshops, ceremonies, and shared experiences, we aim to spark a ripple effect of growth and healing that extends far beyond the event itself.
We envision attendees leaving these events feeling more aligned with their soul’s purpose, more connected to others, and more empowered to live authentically. Ultimately, our goal is to foster love, uplift small businesses, create a collective energy of healing, and support one another on the path to greater consciousness and personal evolution.
What I want potential clients, followers, and community members to know is that my purpose is to serve with love. We are here to help others discover the divinity within their own experiences and foster a sense of empowerment and healing. Every person’s journey is unique, and it’s an honor to be part of that process for those who feel called to this work.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2022, I made one of the most profound shifts of my life after nearly two decades in corporate America, after wearing many different hats, from accountant to buyer. At this time, I found myself at a crossroads—feeling deeply disconnected from my purpose and knowing that something had to change. In 2020, during a reading with a very powerful intuitive, she shared that I was meant to be a healer, guiding people with plant medicine, and she saw the numbers 22. At the time, I had no idea what that meant.
In November 2021, I hired someone to guide me through a private plant medicine journey to help me move through my trauma. This person turned out to be a guardian angel who, during the experience, told me that I was meant to be doing this work too. A few months later, in January 2022, during a deep plant medicine journey, I was shown my purpose and the life of service I was meant to walk. I was told that the only thing standing in the way of this path was my own inability to surrender.
Shortly after, without any concrete plan or roadmap, I decided to fully surrender and leave my corporate job from the guidance of the plants and fully trusted in the divine. This wasn’t just a career pivot; it was a complete shift in how I approached life. I released control, trusted in spirit, and allowed myself to be guided towards whatever was meant for me.
What came next was a journey that revealed my true calling in ways I never could have planned. By surrendering, I discovered my path in holistic healing and conscious event curation. It was a leap of faith that reconnected me with my soul’s purpose—supporting others on their healing journeys and creating spaces for transformation. This decision to let go and trust completely reshaped my life, showing me that when we stop forcing things, start trusting and living in alignment with intuitive direction, the universe opens doors we never even know were possible.
This pivot taught me that surrender isn’t about giving up control—it’s about allowing space for what’s truly aligned with your highest good to emerge. I stepped away from the traditional path, embraced the unknown, and found a life of service and fulfillment that I now help others discover in their own way.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A significant lesson I got to unlearn was the idea that pushing myself harder and constantly “doing” would eventually lead me to fulfillment. For most of my life, I operated under the belief that the more I accomplished, the more worthy or successful I would be. This mindset kept me in overdrive, constantly seeking validation through achievement, and it eventually led me to burnout and disconnection from my true self.
The backstory? After years of hustling in corporate America, I reached a breaking point. I was outwardly successful, but inwardly I felt lost and unfulfilled. I had spent so much time “doing” that I hadn’t allowed myself to simply “be.” It wasn’t until I left my corporate job in 2022 and embraced the concept of surrender that I truly understood how detrimental this pattern had been. Through my healing journey with plant medicine and self-love practices, I learned that true growth and transformation come from allowing, not forcing.
I still get to unlearn that success isn’t about constantly doing or achieving—it’s about aligning with who I am at my core. Once I let go of that need to overexert myself and embraced being present, life started to flow in ways that felt deeply fulfilling and authentic. It was a powerful shift from “doing more” to simply allowing things to unfold in alignment with my soul’s path.
