We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Heather Lore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I am not interested in personally being remembered forever, but I do want the projects I create to have a positive, inspirational impact on people around the world for years to come.
If my company does become a legacy, I want it to be associated with inspiring female and queer filmmakers across the world to create their own stories and grow & flourish in the entertainment industry.
I truly want to inspire all creatives/filmmakers around the world, but helping to support lesser-seen communities is such a beautiful thing that I personally want to see more of and help create.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the entertainment world when I was very young – I started out as a ballerina from about 3 years old and started dancing professionally around 11. Then went on to discover many other awesome aspects of the entertainment world with acting, modeling, writing and producing!
I have been striving to create more opportunities and space in the entertainment world for queer, female and nonbinary voices. It’s a growing community, but I am reminded every time I’m on set that there is always room for more growth and diversity in every aspect of the entertainment world.
The thing that I am most proud of is hearing how something I helped create has inspired someone. Whether it’s to try something new or to overcome a fear or obstacle or just to simply put a smile on their face – I love to hear about the positive impact things that I help create has on peoples lives.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
This one is going to sound simple, but it is one that I was sadly very slow to learn and laugh at myself now because of it.
The lesson is: you have to be immensely proactive in your ambitions, no one is just going to “discover” you or hand you the opportunities you want – you have to get out there and see what the world has to offer.
I was given several amazing opportunities when I was younger since I was living in a much smaller creative community, I was able to take advantage of a lot of great, creative outlets that I didn’t know weren’t available as readily to people with different interests.
When I moved to LA, I thought that trend would continue and didn’t realize how much I would actually have to work for it to get the same types of opportunities that I was just given when I was a part of a smaller community. Here, there are hundreds of thousands of people vying for the same opportunities that I am going for and that took me several years to figure out and start properly navigating.
I learned a lot of incredible new skills and passions along the way, but what a journey that is still continuing.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I think I have already shared this, but my main goal has always been to have a positive, inspirational impact on people across the world.
I have been immensely inspired by different entertainment mediums throughout my entire life and am still inspired regularly and I want to create things that have that positive impact on others as well.
Even if it’s simply through a fun few hours of escapism from the chaos of the outside world, I want to create beautiful things that brighten peoples days. Things that they can look forward to and share memories with their friends/community over.
