We were lucky to catch up with Heather Levy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Heather, appreciate you joining us today. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
The kindest act anyone has ever bestowed upon me has been when a person commissioned me to paint something special for them. I have had great luck with my clients asking for me “to do my thing”. It is a great compliment to me as it demonstrates how much faith and respect they have in me and my work. I put a piece of my soul into each painting and strive to create new ways of looking at the world . It is so rewarding when someone appreciates it!

Heather, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been an artist all my life. I enjoy making sculptures, experimental films and surrealistic paintings. I have been honing my craft professionally for over 20 years. I strive to inspire titillate and otherwise amuse the viewer.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
As a young artist growing up on Long Island, the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan has always been the epitome of great Art for me. It is still one of my favorite museums in the world. It will be my greatest honor to have them collect and exhibit my work.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Patience is very important and it truly is all about the journey. I was living in DC when 3 of my paintings had been selected to appear on an LED sign on a billboard for the Infiniti car in mid-town Manhattan. I was insanely excited! I waited patiently for the date as to when they would be up so I could take a trip to NY from DC to see my Art on a billboard! After a year had passed I reached out to the advertising company…any idea when that billboard is going up? No, we will let you know… I waited another 6 months before I contacted them again…Any idea when that billboard might go up? No, we will let you know… Finally after 2 years of thinking about it I decided to forget it ever happened and move on with my life! A few months later my Dad had open heart surgery on Long Island. I went to be there with him for it. It was successful and after he was home recuperating I decided to take the train into Manhattan to relax with friends a little. I took the LIRR into Manhattan, road the escalator up to 7th Avenue where when I looked up there was the painting that hangs in my living room on a huge billboard directly across from Penn Station!!! I couldn’t believe it! I started calling everyone I knew!
