We recently connected with Heather Kathryn and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Heather thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?

I think about this question a lot. I think about how I could’ve already made it if I was living in LA at a young age. About how I could be doing so much more. But then I look around and I realize that I’m only 22 and that people older than me are doing the same things I am. Everyone’s creative journey is different, and mine is just beginning

Heather, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Heather Kathryn, I’m a twenty-two almost twenty-three year old singer-songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona. I started my musical journey at a young age and moved to Los Angeles at Seventeen. I spent a few years figuring out what kind of artist I wanted to be, I was originally just a singer then I found a love of writing songs and that never stopped. I started off as a pop artist but then realized pop punk was where my heart was.

Throughout my journey I’ve had the opportunity to play at iconic venues on Sunset Boulevard like The Viper Room, Whisky A Go-Go, and most recently The Troubadour.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

My life experiences are what drive my writing and creative journey. I’ll be out somewhere and see something and be like “I need to write this down” or I’ll go on a date and the guy will say something and I end up putting it in a song. I like to be real and honest in my music, by sharing things that not everyone wants to hear but that others can relate to.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

For me, I think the most rewarding thing about being an artist is meeting people at my shows or online who relate to the songs I write. It’s crazy to me that people cry to songs I’ve released because they used to just be words on a piece of paper.
