Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Heather Hukari. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Heather, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To have a successful business you need a 3 things-
1- To be really, really good at what you do.
What every service or product you provide, makes sure it’s the the absolute best in the industry. This might mean taking online tutorials in your free time to learn more, practicing your craft even when you don’t want to, or paying for more education. This will not only bring people back to you over and over again, but it will give you a lot of confidence and pride in your own abilities.
2- Extremely good customer service.
This is important whether you sell a product or service. In my case, I make videos for people/businesses and there are a lot of people my clients could go to for a quality video. But they come back to me over and over because they love working with me. I treat them like the experts they are in their industry, I respect their time, value their opinion, treat their project uniquely, and really listen to what they want in a video. This sets me apart from another video creator who might be dialing it in.
3- To be able to always exceed expectations.
If you go above and beyond, it’s a sure fire way to retain clients/customers. This could be finishing a project faster than expected, making it look even better than they imagined, or just sending an email telling them how much you loved working with them. People appreciate the effort. And they are very likely to refer you to others who need your service/product.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am all things videos…I offer a couple things. But first, I got into video as a kid. My Dad made a lot of home videos so a camera was often around and I thought it was special. I took a multimedia class in middle school and edited a very simple video. From that point forward, I just knew I’d be in the video field forever! It is my calling.
Through my business, Video Service Hub, I do professional video production for people/businesses. This ranges from internal videos like training and internal communications to marketing and social media specific videos. We do all aspects of production, but specialize in editing.
I also have an online course and coaching program called Social Video 101 where I teach small business owners and entrepreneurs how to make their own videos (using their phone) to post and grow on social media. Because in this modern digital age, it’s important to have video as a marketing tool for your business and it’s very possible to make it yourself.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
For me, the best source of new clients is referrals. Not only is it the cheapest marketing tool available at zero dollars, it’s the most credible marketing there is. Clients I’ve worked with know I’m great at making videos and will happily tell anyone about me when it makes sense. Being excellent at what you do, having great customer service and exceeding expectations truly is the best form of marketing.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I’ve built a reputation on producing high quality videos that are exactly what the client needs and always delivering in a timely fashion, or quicker than expected.
