We were lucky to catch up with Heather Fraley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Heather thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
It was definitely taking a huge risk as a single mom, diving into the film industry with no prior experience. I decided to trust and bet on myself. I have no regrets about this decision, as it has changed our lives completely.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been in the film industry for only 14 months, it took off very quickly and before I knew it I was at 90 imdb film credits, my first lead in a feature film, writing and directing my own short film “White Poison” which received 10 nominations and 1 award at the oif legend challenge. As well I have become partners on 3 different film productions. Domain Pictures, Fear Fame productions and Shaver/Fraley Productions. I started by attending 1 casting call as an extra on an HBO max tv series, then kept getting asked to attend more auditions.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goals and missions are all driven by wanting to provide the best life possible for my daughter, as well as teaching her hard work is how you get anywhere and if you have a dream, you go for it and don’t stop until you achieve it. I will always be learning and growing in the film industry. As long as I keep learning and progressing and my daughter is proud of me, I will never stop.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
There are many blessings and rewards that I feel come with being in the film industry. However my absolute favorite is watching my daughter watch me on screen or on set. Being able to bring a story from pen and paper to life and screen. There are no words that can describe it. Each role is so different and being challenged is something I strive for. The amazing people you meet on sets as well, cast and crew and watching how each person plays such an important role in this huge puzzle to bring 1 film to life is amazing.
