We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Heather Davis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Heather thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Put people first and honor those who show interest in what your services are – let them see the joy you have in what you do. Consider everyone equally. Treat other’s as you would want to be treated – don’t forget the most basic and baseline elements of etiquette and customer service. Look people in the eye, accommodate and serve with joy.
Heather , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a wedding photographer who specializes in classical, poetic and art inspired imagery. I have a background in Visual Arts and Art History.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Do not treat others in your industry as competitors- treat them as humans first. Focus on your craft and being the best at your voice , no one else can be you so let go of the imaginary comparisons. Become obsessed with creating the most incredible work you can. Do not strive for balance. Strive for perfection. Your reputation is directly related to the selflessness you practice. Your reputation is build on the small gestures of honesty and standing your ground, and an uncompromising product.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Your customers are your best ambassadors. If you give them an incredible experience and product- they will do the “social media” – ing for you. Anytime they praise you – have your visual brand backup the great claims. As long as the feedback, reviews, buzz around your business reflects back in a brand that had a clear and unapologetic voice/approach – your social media will be successful
