We were lucky to catch up with Heather Carroll recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Heather thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is to guide women to work somatically and energetically through the limiting beliefs that they have picked up along their journey of life so far including societal beliefs, religious beliefs, cultural beliefs, family, belief, systems, ancestors, and past lives so that they can fully step into their desires in this life, and pass the message along to their children.
I am a mom of two beautiful daughters, and I am also sober. Through my journey of IV heroin use and alcoholism, two C-sections, one abusive relationship that almost killed me, and one narcissistic marriage I have had a lot of trauma in my life. For women the biggest place we store trauma is in the sacral area and the hips.
For myself, after my second baby, I’m being sober for a while I relapsed due to postpartum depression and a narcissistic marriage. I was lucky enough to wind up working the front desk of the gym. Thanks to my sister. When the yoga teacher didn’t show up one day I was put up to teach Yoga class. I had taught dance for a really long time before and was consistently taking classes at the gym. Trying to make myself feel better physically. From there I wound up teaching Barre Pilates, and eventually becoming a personal trainer. I worked with women for a long time physically, but I knew that there were something deeper That needed to be addressed.
I had a spiritual awakening due to an ancestor from the 1600s coming to me in a vision and showing me this breath work and movement. I used it on myself for a while before showing it to my clients at the time. I knew that I had to go into the energetic and spiritual world fully as I had 1 foot in and 1 foot out at the time.
When I started to show the breath and use it on its own for clients, the results were amazing but I noticed everyone coming to me had had some sort of trauma around birth or sexual trauma. I now work with a lot of women to move through the trauma that they had so that they can release the feelings of unworthiness and shame, and step into their purpose.
Everything I do is channeled from my guides. One thing that I truly believe is that birth is traumatic whether you have an emergency C-section, or a completely natural birth process. It is physically traumatic on the body, especially with the hormones coming in and going out. You are separated from something that has been inside of you for 40 weeks. Mentally and emotionally, it takes a toll and we question a lot of things at that time energetically it can be taxing. I truly believe that when women start to release and understand what they have been through physically emotionally mentally spiritually and energetically, once the beliefs of having to push through and be everything, for everyone have been lifted, they are allowed and allowing themselves to fully step into their desires, their purpose, their soul. I truly wish for all wound to be able to be in their soul energy and show their children so that their children do not have to go through the same things that they went through.
Recently, I have been partnering and talking with other women own businesses. I work with a birth Doula, and we are working together on workshops for mothers. I work with women on businesses online that create the space for these women to heal and to own their own business. I believe this work is truly needed in this world.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I went to Emerson College and majored in dance. I taught dance for over 25 years. I have since gone on to become a 500 hour yoga teacher, bar, Pilates, instructor, and a personal trainer.
When I first got sober, the second time after having over eight years before I recognized an energy with me, that could help others. I started to study Reiki and got my level two certification. I started to connect more with the spiritual aspect as I was working at the gym.
I believe that the Breath work and movement downloads that I have received from my ancestors are truly healing in nature. They alchemize the energy that is needing to shift. What separates me from others as that this breath work and movement is a combined effort. They go together. This is not a lay on your back and breathe or somatic movement similar to yin yoga.
I connect in with the persons energy. I am working with. I feel their blocks in my body and my guides show me the breath work and movement that is needed to release these blocks. Everything is channeled through. Messages for them come through as well.
I feel truly blessed to be the one to bring this breath, work and movement forward into the world and help others heal themselves. I am a guide. I don’t heal people. They are able to heal themselves through my guidance. What I want everyone to know is that they hold this power of healing themselves within their body they just sometimes need help tapping into it and that is what I am here for.
I provide one on one and group programs. I also provide mini channeled breath and movement sessions that are recorded and sent I work both virtually and in person with clients.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In my early 20’s I lost my way. I had been teaching dance for a while but inside I was searching for something to fill a hole. I chose alcohol and then drugs and went down fast. It took me years to get sober. At 27 I entered a relationship with a man who would eventually try to kill me and my unborn daughter. I put him in jail and got sober while I was pregnant with her. I stayed sober a long time but the death of my father created a new hole. I married a man who turned out to be very controlling. I was pregnant right away. After my second daughter was born it got worse. At one point I was home with 2 children with no phone or car. I taught to get some independence back and a friend sold me a car. I couldn’t get to my meetings that were keeping me sober. I relapsed and went through 9 months of treatment seeing my daughters as much as I was allowed. My oldest came right back to me once I had a place to live. My youngest I taught for 2 years in court to have 50/50 custody. I continued to grow through all of it. From working the desk at a gym, to teaching and training people and during Covid opening my own business. 3years of fighting through divorce and a new custody order, I have my youngest with me all the time too and have full physical custody. All this while running and pivoting my business. Anything is possible!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I made a pivot in my business two years ago. I had been a personal trainer online for 2 years and had been teaching and training women for four. It no longer felt aligned and because I was so out of alignment I couldn’t call in the women to train. I was making nothing and living off credit cards. I decided to pivot first towards yoga, barre and pilates which were my favorite things to teach. It was then an Irish ancestor came to me during a healing. I knew I was in Ireland in the 1600’s. I recognized the castle I was sitting on as I watched her get beheaded. I was told to take her to her home and ask her name. It was Ashleigh. My oldest daughter used to talk about Ashleigh as a child. One night when my dad was sick I was in a puddle on my living room floor and this woman in a long purple dress and long dark hair came to me. She held me and ticked me. The next day I had told my daughter about and she asked me if the woman had on a long purple dress and long dark hair. She told me that was Ashleigh and here she was sitting in front of me 10 years later. Through the breathwork and movement she showed me I healed many parts of myself. I was then told it was my turn to help other women. I pivoted into breathwork and somatic movement at that time which was not well known. Through referrals and networking I have built my new business and just rebranded the beginning of this year!
