We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Heat Jordan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Heat, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project(s) I’ve worked on this year (2022) was with GIGI Inc., a non-profit organization for teen girls. I worked their 4th Annual Confidence Glam Camp and 6th Annual Pillars of Generosity Gala. For some time, I have been aspiring to work with the youth in various ways that would encourage and uplift them. Earlier this year, I was in contact with an old high school friend by the name of Virginie Madistin, and noticed she was the founder of her own non-profit organization for young girls. Elated, we spoke for hours, and I told her I would love to support and volunteer with her organization and assist in any way that I could. With no hesitation, Virginie accepted and brought me right on board with the team.
Things were in motion, and I joined right in time for their 4th Annual Confidence Glam Camp. While at camp, I was able to connect with the girls, nurture their mental/emotional needs and create meaningful bonds. From workout sessions, to dance circles, camp was filled with tons of exciting activities, gems, educational classes and more. Not only did this opportunity fuel my passion for uplifting and giving back, but it allowed me to see firsthand some of what it takes to run a non-profit organization and gain experience that will be necessary when starting my own non-profit organization in the near future.
The art of dance holds a special place in my heart, and I am so grateful to have shared my gift with the young ambassadors of GIGI Inc. The girls performed a piece choreographed by me at their end of the year Gala and did amazing. They pushed through all challenges that presented themselves and made me proud. Growing up, I didn’t have much access to anyone that helped water my confidence, gifts, or mental/emotional state. So, being this for the girls, a mentor and big sister, has brought great joy to my heart and has charged my energy like no other. I look forward to continuing my journey with GIGI INC. and being a positive light to the youth of this generation.

Heat, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a young girl coming out of Palm Beach, FL, I was always active, dancing around family or around the house. The first time I knew I wanted to become a professional dancer was when I seen Jennifer Lopez’s music video, “If you had my love,” I thought the dance break in this video was so dope and it really inspired me. I grew up shy, and self-conscious, but it wasn’t until the age of 19 or 20 that I broke through my shell and joined a dance team by the name of “XCL Dance.” For a while I felt like I started on this journey too late but had to constantly remind myself that age is only a number and that all paths are different. Joining the dance team allowed me to really learn the importance of self-discipline, humility, confidence, consistency, focus, and faith. I was able to train under a phenomenal choreographer by the name of Chris Grant, as well as learn from many other great choreographers and individuals in the entertainment industry. After a short time on the dance team, my work ethic allowed me to gain a position on the performance team of the group and was very blessed to showcase my talents live on television, for BET’s 106 & Park, Blaze the stage, and Spring Bling. Winning competitions, being featured on the local news, performing with local talent/artists and more, these experiences all set the tone for me to press forward and continue to nurture and perfect my talent.
In 2016 I decided to leave FL and move to Atlanta, GA. I wanted to be in a place that provided more opportunities and where I could have a bigger networking pool. I successfully put myself in position to network, attend different castings, dance classes, training, and mentorship programs. I am grateful to have worked alongside the talented Dondria, Tiffany Evans, Noori Belai, trained and mentored with Brya Woods, all while booking roles on television sets and gaining experience in this area as well. In addition to working with GIGI Inc., a non-profit organization for young girls, I am currently dancing with a professional sport’s organization, Fan Controlled Sports (FCF), which streams live on Peacock, Twitch, NBCLX and more.
To conclude, a couple of fun facts about me, I’ve styled and braided hair for years, and I do most of my hair styles you see me in these days. Aside from doing hair, I recently picked up a new hobby that I am starting to really love. I create crystal necklaces and rings wrapped in copper wire. No one piece is made the same, the designs are all freestyled and made with good vibes and love; Vibe High Jewelry. This literally fell into my lap one day and it pretty much became a form of meditation for me. I am excited and looking forward to sharing more of my creative side with the world. Stay tuned!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is knowing the energy exchange can make a positive difference in another person’s life. I believe the times we are in now; good energy and good vibes are always needed. It is important for me to remain my most authentic self, and never dim my light for anything or anyone. I want to be a positive inspiration to others through my creativity, so I know I must continue to stand in my truth and stay the course.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Growth, healing, and making a difference in the community are some things that drive my creative journey. I feel it’s important for us all to have the freedom of expression with whatever talent we share. In life, I always strive to become my best self, to learn/grow, encourage others to do the same; uplift one another. I’m here to help you believe in yourself, to help you not give up on you and keep going.
