Hazar, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

Success, in my view, is all about dedication and a willingness to go the extra mile. It’s not just about mastering your own field; it’s about being open to learning from different areas. I’ve found inspiration and valuable perspectives by exploring art history and the stories of great artists from the past.

When it comes to creativity, I believe in striving for originality. It’s not just about being the first to think of something; it’s about bringing your unique perspective and voice to the table. In one memorable project, we were tasked with creating a campaign for a well-known brand. We drew inspiration from various sources, including art history and current trends. It required late nights, extensive research, and collaboration with a diverse team. In the end, our campaign not only met but exceeded the client’s expectations, highlighting the importance of going the extra mile, continuous learning, and aiming for originality on the path to success.

Hazar, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’m Hazar, and my journey in the creative world has been quite a ride. As an immigrant, I quickly realized the value of hard work and determination. It often meant putting in extra effort to make my mark in a new place.

My passion has always revolved around design, photography, and all things creative. Over the years, I’ve delved into various creative disciplines and developed a versatile skill set, ranging from interactive web design to branding and entertainment marketing.

What I truly cherish is the role of a problem solver. In the creative realm, it’s all about finding innovative solutions to the unique challenges clients face. I take pride in my ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and push creative boundaries.

Currently, I assist Entertainment and gaming studios, as well as various brands, with their marketing efforts.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

My creative journey began in 1999 as a web designer. Over time, I expanded my skills to include print and branding. By the time I started my master’s degree around 2006-07, I had become proficient in various Adobe software and web technologies. I had even collaborated with reputable brands like Philips.

However, during my master’s (MA) program, I had a significant realization. I lacked the conceptual articulation of my craft. It became clear that I needed to unlearn some of my previous design practices and start anew with a strong foundation in design theory and art history. This shift in my approach allowed me to bring a deeper level of understanding and creativity to my work, ultimately enriching my creative journey.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Being consistently available when challenges arise has played a pivotal role in establishing my reputation within the market. Problem-solving skills, including the ability to anticipate potential issues and proactively implement measures to prevent them, have been key contributors.

Moreover, readiness during crises has been instrumental. Crises are an inevitable part of any industry, and how one responds in the heat of the moment can make all the difference. Being at the forefront to resolve issues has allowed me to not only navigate through challenges effectively but also build a solid reputation in the process.
