Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Hayley Enright. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Hayley, thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
Ever wonder how people find their calling? I always thought only artists and the rare dedicated person were lucky enough to know what they wanted to do with their lives. Until one day, while I was in grad school to become a professor of medieval French literature, I had a game changing experience. I wasn’t happy in this career path and couldn’t figure out why since it checked so many boxes- studying history and culture, working with people, expanding goodness in the world through education. But one day in my apartment in New York City, I was having a serious “uh-oh” moment and out of nowhere I got an answer in the strangest way possible. I heard a voice. Inside my body. It didn’t belong to me. It had no gender. It said one thing only, but it was as clear as a bell. It said “acupuncture.” I sure got lucky because I adore my career and every day I get to go to work is an amazing day.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My background is in languages and education, and I still bring that love of teaching with me to acupuncture. Here I get to show people how good they can feel, and help them establish the kind of health that allows them to participate in living meaningfully. It’s so hard to build the life you want when you feel like crap. But reestablishing health is such a rewarding journey, and acupuncture is a wonderful way to do it. I’m gentle and it’s very relaxing, lots of people fall asleep during the session and wake up feeling zen. I just love seeing that. Acupuncture works because it enables your body’s innate healing intelligence. We all have that intelligence and we can always do something to improve how we feel.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Before getting into healthcare I assumed the body was a fragile construct just waiting to break down. Now I know it’s a powerhouse of ability, endurance and health and will always try its best to maintain itself optimally. If you are dealing with a health problem that’s also causing you a lot of stress, know you have much power to effect positive change!
I see this every day at work!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I’m a what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of person. I love it when people are happy around me. I find people to be fascinating. It’s so interesting hearing your stories and participating in your journeys. I couldn’t ask for a better career, it’s amazing because you are amazing.
