We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hayden Gross a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Hayden, thanks for joining us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?

Absolutely. Being a business owner is something I always saw myself doing. Although I work more hours a week, I enjoy the flexibility that comes with being a business owner. I have worked regular jobs in the past, and some of them were enjoyable. However, In past occupations, I lacked a passionate drive. I wasn’t where I wanted to be, and I knew the only thing that would fix that would be to start my own business.

Hayden, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am a personal trainer that operates of Liv Fitness in Kirkwood in Atlanta, Georgia. I became interested in training and business ownership during my time in college at The University of West Georgia. Since then, I have started my own business, 144 Fitness, LLC, where I train clients in person and online as well. I take the guesswork out of fitness and create a tailored planed to each individual client and their needs.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

I typically get new clients through referrals from current and previous clients. I also have potential clients find me through social media where they can fill out an application for fitness coaching in my Instagram bio.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

When I decided to start doing online training for clients as well as in-person training I had to become much more tech savvy than I was. I was very hesitant at first as I did not think I had the skill set or time to start training clients online with as busy as I was with face to face clients. After a few months of getting used to a new style of business, I began to see how beneficial expanding my reach was for my business. Since then, I’ve been able to take on more clients and grow my income without having to overwhelm myself with longer days.
