Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Haya Zoubi . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Haya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
When I was a child attending Montessori school I remember the first time I started taking an interest in art when I started drawing and doodling with my friends. In the years after that I was exposed to film 35mm and medium format photography because my parents owned a film lab for a few years.
I took film photography in high school and I loved shooting friends and travels. I didn’t think back then that I could ever make a living as a photographer hence why it took so many years before I finally did.
I really think that the law of assumption can get you to where you want to be in life much quicker than when you’re not conscious and stick to limiting beliefs.
I was always an artist since a very young age -but I didn’t get to enjoy it as a career until many years later when I consciously asked the universe to help me manifest it. I think this aspect is extremely important to achieving a career in art or accomplishing anything.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My background is in PR (since 2006) and I have been pursuing photography all my life but I didn’t do it professionally until I started working for Jakett New York in 2019. That’s when I started shooting their content for socials and website. Before I landed the position with Jakett New York (which is carried at Free People, Gorsuch and many other shops) I never thought I would be able to make a living at photography. For many years prior I loved to shoot but I took it more seriously with test shoots for about 2 years prior to landing Jakett. After Jakett I was able to land more collaborations with brands. This brings me back to reality shifting -nothing happened to my career until I made the conscious decision that I wanted to be a professional. Any aspect of the art, entertainment and fashion worlds are very hard to break into so manifestation, reality shifting, and avoiding limiting beliefs are all very important aspects of advancing any career.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
On the Road by Jack Kerouac has influenced and inspired me time and time again since I was 16 years old. I reference it often and refer back to it for inspiration. William Burroughs’ character resonates with me the most. He is described as having the character and personality of a “researcher” -in the sense that he went out of his way to experience everything from being a bartender to visual artist to writer to exterminator to private investigator -with his latest research centered around his own drug addiction. I am a big believer in having as many life experiences as possible and that’s why I admire Burroughs’ philosophy of life. Everything he did was for the sake of the experience. I can relate to that desire in a profound way.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFT’s? It’s like digital Pokémon trading cards? I’ve already read that people have lost money on those silly investments. Let’s stick to real art by real artists and not these ridiculous cyber experiments . And don’t get me started about AI “art”.
