We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hassan Zayat. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hassan below.
Alright, Hassan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have been around construction since I could walk, as my father and brother worked in the field as electricians. I would occasionally shadow my father on smaller carpentry projects he undertook, and I believe that’s where my passion really intensified. Being able to construct something beautiful out of hundreds of precisely-cut pieces of wood was rewarding, both emotionally and financially.
I worked my way through school to obtain my Bachelors and eventually Masters in Architecture, but I knew that I wanted to be more hands-on so I pursued my Builder’s License. I felt that I naturally had a passion for the ins-and-outs of the entire construction process…undertaking projects that challenged and intrigued me, being able to envision the entire building as parts of a whole.
There was always an abundance of local general contractors, but I knew that I could offer something that others couldn’t: an architectural eye. I wanted my business to be built on great customer service and exceptional quality. I decided to name my company Zayat Construction, my surname, with the intent for it being synonymous with those values.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I learned at an early age the significance of a good reputation, growing up in a town where everybody knew everybody. What distinguishes my business from others is the fact that we pride ourselves on our craftsmanship throughout the entire construction process. A majority of the working-class community does not know anything about construction, so I took it upon myself to become as well-rounded as possible in all facets of our industry. I wanted to be able to confidently and accurately answer every client inquiry along the way, Over time, we’ve grown to specialize in all types of major renovations, making it clear to our clients that the quality of work will always be top-tier.
When potential clients reach out to me, it’s because of our meticulous and detail-oriented work. We’ve built up a portfolio of incredible transformations, including kitchens, bathrooms, basements and additions. Our online presence, from client feedback to social media posts, have become something that I am extremely proud of.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Social media is a strong tool in expanding a business, and it shouldn’t be taken lightly. A majority of our clients come to us via Instagram or Facebook, so I do my best to keep those as interactive as possible. I’ll occasionally post some of our past work and ‘tag’ our clients, letting them know how appreciative I was of entrusting us to transform their homes or businesses.

Any advice for managing a team?
My crew is made up of myself and two other hardworking gentlemen, but we get a lot accomplished. It takes time to build up a team with the same morals and integrity as you, so I do my best to reward them for their dedication. I am never afraid to do the ‘dirty work’, making it clear to them that we are all on the same team striving to create something beautiful.
