We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hassan Saadaldin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hassan, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I started with reading classic photography books by scott Kelby and others, going out and shooting everyday. My first trip I remember that summer I took 5000 pictures. just capturing everything and everyone. I also spent a good amount of time on Creativelive site (Made by Chase Jarvis) one of my favourite photographer/entrepreneur. I think that setup a good foundation in my mind to seek out clean classic style of photography.
I think the most important thing is to practice. knowing what I know know, having to dabble between Medical School and my love for photography, Landing more gigs would have helped me learn the business side of the art, which I think is crucial for any skilled photographer.
The most essential skills to have is good understanding of light, composition and communication skills especially when shooting portraits. Making your client at ease when shooting portraits makes a huge difference in the result.
Some of the biggest challenges I think we all deal with right now is the fast changing environment around us, especially on sharing platforms. The fast shift to newer and different technology makes it overwhelming sometimes to keep up with all the new features that are coming out every couple of months. Yet I believe we do not really need to try to keep up with the new innovations so much as it takes away from who we are. We can instead learn to pick and choose what we want to blend in to our style and make something unique.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, My name is Hassan Saadaldin, I’m a Medical Doctor, Photographer, and Creative Designer. My journey with photography started during med school with my dear friend and colleague Albaraa Mehdar, who ignited the love for photography within me. He had the newly released Nikon D90 back then, I fell in love instantly with the quality of the images and the feel of the camera in my hand. A few weeks later he took me to a Camera store in Cairo, Egypt and I got my first DSLR, a D3000. I was in awe and full of excitement.
I offer a wide variety of creative services, from photography, videography, and content creation to web design, brand development, and social media setup for businesses.
What sets me apart from others is that I am versatile, I have a wide range of knowledge and understanding of multiple creative aspects that I can bring to my clients and make their experience smoother. I provide photography, videography, drone experience, and creative solutions such as logo designs, web design, social media profile setup/sharing, business cards, and more.
I am most proud of my dedication to my clients. I treat everyone’s project as if it is my own and I try my best to provide them with the best experience possible regardless of how big or small the project is. I want my future clients to know that they are in great hands, and I love to bring people together to deliver the best possible outcome, I have a wide variety of connections and talents around me that I invite to get the job done and I do not shy away from that.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me recently has been through my Instagram, referrals, and networking.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of my creative career is the creative process in itself and the feeling of joy my work brings to my clients. That is a big motivator for me,
