Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Hasan Morrison Jr . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hasan , appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
One of the major points in my life where I took a risk was moving to Los Angeles, California during the pandemic of January 2021. I am from Philadelphia born and raised which is a callous place with so many trials and tribulations as growing up an inner city kid. I never thought much of relocating so soon in life until I went on my first trip ever. I went on my first trip at the end of 2020 to visit LA which changed my whole perspective and allowed me to shift my mindset pertaining to business and growth. When I first arrived in LA I noticed a different energy that I wasn’t used to and seeing so much success nearby motivated me immensely.
The three major things I loved most about California were the weather, the emphasis on great health, and also success.
I moved to LA with one month of rent and an ambitious mindset. I knew for a fact that moving to a different coast during a pandemic would not be easy but I was up for the challenge and knew that home would still be there. The great weather in LA has an incline on the residents making sure they are in good health standing all year around and not just a few months due to the cold like the east coast. California is also one of the wealthiest places in the world and is a nice location for many entrepreneurs who are seeking clientele that will be able to afford their pricing.
When I arrived in LA during the pandemic I asked the landlord if I could turn the co-living dog park/community space with turf into an outdoor gym and persuaded him that this would be a great idea. I understood that having a private training space in LA during the pandemic when gyms were closed would be crucial to my initial success in building business traffic. The landlord agreed and any money that I would make from driving ride-sharing I would then invest into equipment for my space.
Driving Lyft was also a great tool that helped with learning about the city and building new connections! Throughout all of the ups and downs, I stayed consistent. I would reach back out to potential clients and be also very creative at times with marketing like putting my business on dating app profiles or going to events just to airdrop my website to as many people as possible! I realized that being creative and sharing my story would have a substantial effect on the growth of my business and clientele here in LA!
Hasan , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Hasan and I am a certified personal trainer born and raised in Philadelphia. I have been into fitness primarily my entire life. I started off working out at a very young age to help me stay focused and deal with anxiety growing up as an inner-city kid. I have always been very disciplined and consistent with my work ethic since the age of twelve completing two half marathons and understanding what a diet and good nutrition were. I have always had a progressive mindset and knew that whatever you work hard for it will eventually pay off in life. I give my clients motivation and show them firsthand that the consistency and hard work they display will be the determining factor of their reaching success. My brand name is strong and natural fitness (San Fit) for short and this stands for individuals who are mentally and physically strong in all aspects of life. I am most proud of the strong belief system I have and it’s one of the most important characteristics you have to embody in order to reach a high level of success. Although I am not exactly where I want to be yet, I am growing every day and building so much of a solid foundation for myself and those who are close to me.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been word of mouth because I am personable and love to build great relationships. My mindset is to build a strong foundation with the relationships I have and to properly nurture and grow them so that value can be added to their network also.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
One of my favorite books is the compound effect by Darren Hardy. This is a great motivational piece that introduces an amazing concept of the compound effect. I always believed in practicing the small habits daily that would lead to success in the future.
