We were lucky to catch up with HARZEE recently and have shared our conversation below.
HARZEE, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew I wanted to pursue this profession after learning how readily available a lot of resources were to me. I grew up listening and watching some of my favorite artists for so long, not knowing I could do what they did once I found out a way to make something happen. Soon enough, I was introduced to free resources and makeshift ways to produce my own music, and it has gone well ever since. I only get better with time and experience.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those that do not know, I am a 17 year old recording and performing artist based in Memphis, TN. I make music primarily from the comfort of my own home, and I have worked with producers locally and from internationally as well. My music has acquired a great amount of streams, and I have had amazing opportunities to perform on live television, tons of venues (some alongside Stax Music Academy as well), and my next endeavor is the NAACP National Act-So competition, which I recently was a gold medalist for on the state level. One thing that sets me apart from a lot of other artists in my field is my background. Despite all of the detrimental things that have happened in my life at such a young age, I have kept a great reputation, image, discography, and amazing determination within what I love to do. I am still learning and growing as an artist, and with a full ride to go and sing at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, I know things are only moving upwards.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect is the feedback and getting to see my supporters loving my music as much as I do, if not more. I love dropping new music and seeing my fans posting videos of them and their family members jamming out! It warms my heart to see that my art is being viewed all over, and I can’t wait to do this on a way bigger scale.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built up my audience on social media by harboring an aesthetic they can always look for on their explore page or in their feed. They know who’s content they are viewing because my social media holds a certain composure. It’s unique. Even as an independent artist learning to flow with algorithms on the backend of things, my only advice is to DO IT. If you think the world needs to see it or hear it, let them. You only live once, and being told no should never be discouraging. Keep pushing forward;
