We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Harper Leblanc a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Harper, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My most memorable project was a fashion editorial in the steep Himalayan mountains of Tibet. The special permit approval came at the very last minute, giving us very little time to accumulate our bodies for the extreme elevation. We passed around oxygen tanks while filming our fashion story in the freezing cold and thin air. Our stylist became ill and had to lay prone at our base camp, while the rest of our crew continued shooting the editorial. Despite all the challenges, we were able to pull together an incredible fashion story amid the stunning Tibetan landscape.

Harper, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Though my work as an artist has evolved from fashion forward editorials to celebrity hair and makeup, a constant for me has always been my love of beauty. I see every client as an individual and play off of what is natural and unique to them. My clients inspire my work and I am very passionate about the connections I make with them as people.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My purpose in life has anyways been to fulfill myself creatively and to align my lifestyle with my passions. Since I was very young, I have always been fascinated by the transformative power of makeup. Before I started experimenting with makeup, I was a very quiet and shy kid. When I made myself up, people began treating me differently because of the new confidence I exuded.
