Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Harley Langberg. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Harley, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of the more meaningful projects I worked on is when I was invited by my daughter’s teachers to teach food art at her school to her and her classmates. The kids all were so eager to learn how to create food art and did so well and expressed so much creativity. It means a lot to me to see young kids be interested in art and be able to express their creativity.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a NYC-based food artist and for the last 10 years have been creating edible images of art using a broad range of ingredients. I’ve partnered with over 75 companies including The Food Network, Chili’s and Netflix. I’m proud of how much I’ve grown what started out as a hobby and what turned into a side business. I’ve done everything on my own from reaching out to brands, getting press to handling invoicing. I’m also proud how much my pieces have evolved over the years starting from very simplistic creations to much more detailed, sculptural realistic pieces.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is knowing that I’ve created something beautiful from very simple everyday ingredients. It’s also rewarding hearing the nice comments from my followers especially from the children and grandchildren of my followers who often show them my work.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
It was also organic. I started early reaching out to large accounts, brands and various media outlets and little by little it started to grow. I would say don’t be afraid to cold email and get your name out there even if it means creating some work for free in exchange for exposude.
