Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Harika Sandhu. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Harika , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear stories from your time in school/training/etc.
My schooling and training experiences have taught me to be self motivated. While the journey can feel long and overwhelming, it is important to keep in mind that, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” Persistence is key.
Harika , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My joy for medicine was ignited at a young age, from going to work with my father. Having been a social butterfly my whole life, I thought it was awesome that my father worked in a field where he was able to interact with so many others in one day, through rendering of services for healthier living. I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to join my father’s dermatology practice and work alongside him, as we both do what we love most: meeting and serving our patients.
I am most proud of our patient oriented approach, and how we have managed to maintain the humanistic and personable side of medicine in our practice, while staying current with the most up to date technology available to treat our patients.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Our most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been word of mouth referrals. One of the highest compliments in our line of work is knowing that our patients confide in us for their care, and sharing this confidence in us with their friends and family.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
The most helpful guide to succeeding in medicine is putting the patient first, at all costs. Whether this includes being our patient’s biggest advocate and fighting denials for medications/treatments or being available past business hours to ensure they are progressing along the right path, we make it a mission to ensure our patients know they can count on us.
