We were lucky to catch up with Hardbody Shard recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hardbody , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Well I started writing when I was around 14 years old. I would lock myself in my room and write verses all night. Over time I saw improvement and noticed I was getting better. Knowing what I know now, I wished I had tried to record sooner. Being able to “punch in” is very similar to writing in real time, with the exception of actually writing anything down. I don’t think there are any obstacles in the way of learning more at the moment. It’s a matter of how much effort is being put forth.

Hardbody , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Honestly, I love music. But once I learned how to actually make music, I fell in love all over again. Currently, I A&R my own albums and look forward to wearing that title in the near future, as well as songwriter. As a writer, I help clients provide music. I think what sets me apart is my beat selection, my voice and my consistency as a writer. Being able to take an empty instrumental and construct a song from an idea is special. I’m really just most proud of myself. A journey like this one isn’t for the weak. I focus on being a better version of me every time I write a new song. I always appreciate the patience fans and supporters give me, thank you.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I feel like society should better appreciate and understand artists and creatives. We know it takes money to make it, at least give us the opportunity to do so. Learn that currency has to have a current. It has to move. If not dollars are spent then no dollars are being made.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Being able to create is the most rewarding aspect of being and artist. To take nothing and be able to turn it into something is something everybody can’t do. That has to be a super power.
