We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hannahcamille Thomas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannahcamille, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Go big or go home, so they say. We all know relationships can take the speed route to get home, but at what cost. Opportunities in life come quite frequently but, to live in the land of dreams and opportunity is something different. I remember being seven months pregnant and only having one month left till I graduated with my bachelors in science for Entertainment of Business. I knew I needed to focus on having a healthy child so I took the risk and dropped out at school knowing that my measurements of success would never allow me to just give up. I had a natural birth in less than an hour and on the day we got to go home the father of the child decided that he did not want to be a part of the new family that he had built, and tis, he left.
Becoming the head of household as a woman, is quite the risk to take. But I chose that lifestyle rather than to live with anyone who would hold me back, just to split the bills in half. It turned out to be the best decision that I could I have a made, you’re always going to have trials and tribulations. This was life-changing but it needed to happen in order for my story to be as relevant as it is today.
Hannahcamille, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When I was a little girl I was absolutely intrigued with Mattel. I grew up playing with Barbie houses and making sure Barbie had all her careers set produced to a par. I was inspired; knowing that I could be anything that I put my mind to, I decided to start working smart. Ever since, my love for creative direction and set decorating did nothing but grow. I knew I liked to work alone but I was really good with working with people as well. In high school I took my love for the arts seriously and made sure that my work was in every function possible. I even worked with the yearbook crew to ensure the covers were absolutely perfect! In college I decided that I should intertwine business and the arts and I went for my bachelors in science for entertainment of business. I had all the pieces to the puzzle needed, all that was needed at this point was to put it together.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I have grown fond of the entertainment industry, sports and leisure, politics and business! These industries help me keep me on my feet and they sharpen my mind. Sort of like iron sharpens iron and gold only weighs equal to gold. I love my clientele because I get to keep certain things to merely us. A lot of people in the industry like to be spontaneous and yet have their network to themselves so I play perfect in that position because I don’t like being shared with just anyone.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
You have to be bold, rich in ideas rather than your pockets and to go for the play even when the game has not started yet! I am a newbie within social media realm. My face fits perfectly for being in front of the camera and yet I’ve worked behind the scenes my whole life. With that being said, I’ve learned the ins and outs of how to build your ideal audience and took the objective seriously. Doing things like excepting offers when it comes to interviews and actually getting them done are key factors that anyone can take.
