We recently connected with Hannah Wentworth and have shared our conversation below.
Hannah, appreciate you joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
For me starting my business was a slow and steady experience. I have been pursuing photography as a career since I was 15 years old. When I say slow I’m not exaggerating! When I was younger, I did not have the business knowledge or experience of what it truly meant to own and work hard on something like this. So it took years of learning my craft before I decided to dive into what true ownership meant. It takes true grit to work hard every day and stay focused on your dreams and goals. I believe everyone hits this point eventually. It just took me a little bit of time to find my voice and confidence in this area.
I think there are many things I could have done differently. But overall, I know that I am right where I need to be in the process. I am starting to experience the fruit of years of hard work, getting to meet the right people who inspire me to be better, and have learned so many valuable lessons. Every day I am learning new things and growing more and more!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi there! I’m Hannah. I have been a photographer for the last 15 years. I originate from the beautiful Pacific Northwest and now reside in the North Houston area. I first picked up a camera when I was 15 years old. Back in the day when point-and-shoot cameras were all the rage. Since then, I have been honing my craft working in a variety of photography styles. In 2017, I graduated with a fine arts in photography degree and was able to really start perfecting my photography style and craft. It truly was an experience I will never take for granted.
Over the last few years, I have started specializing in brand photography. Working with Brand Photography allows me to meet so many amazing business owners, creatives, lifestyle/business coaches, and intentional entrepreneurs. I provide them with elevated photography to represent them visually as a brand. I find that many business owners have a hard time visually representing themselves as the experts in their field they really are.
I offered a variety of services to my clients. One-time brand photography sessions, team sessions, 90-day social media design bundle, and curated content day events.
What sets me apart from other brand photographers in this area is my ability to help plan and translate their brand’s theme visually and produce the exact look needed. Every brand has a different voice and style. I love bringing that out. Versatility is a real superpower!
The thing that I want potential clients to know is that brand photography is something you should not only prioritize but also not be afraid of investing in. It takes time and continuous photo sessions to start building your brand’s photo reputation and building out the visual brand of your dreams! So don’t be afraid! My goal is to have open conversations about what it would look like for you and your brand to step into the world of brand photography!

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth has been one of the best ways for me to gain new clients. Although I believe showing up on social media is important, it doesn’t always bring you consistent clientele. I have been blessed with a handful of really amazing clients who share their experiences with their friends and clients!
Showing up in any form of networking is a great way to start spreading your name to new and potential clients. This can take many forms. In-person, virtual, or even events that you produce yourself. But don’t feel pressured into needing to pay for a big networking membership until you are able or if you have found the correct one for your business. You can build the life and business you dream of without paying for networking!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being creative is that I get to see the effect of my art firsthand. Whether that is working with someone who has low self-esteem or whose business is struggling, I get to hear how the images and overall experience of brand photography have changed their perspective and or business for the better.
