We were lucky to catch up with Hannah Vaughan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hannah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you manage your own social media?
I currently manage my own social media for Coastal Moke. My background in social media and marketing gave me the confidence to handle this aspect of the business myself. Understanding content strategy and audience engagement has allowed me to showcase the fun, carefree, beachy spirit of Coastal Moke rentals and connect directly with my community.
One key insight I’ve gained is the value of authentic storytelling—sharing personal behind the scenes experiences and visually capturing what makes Coastal Moke unique resonates most with my audience. Staying consistent, engaging daily, and working with other local businesses in the area has played a big role in growing our presence after setbacks, like rebuilding from scratch when our Instagram account was deactivated at 15k.
For business owners considering whether to manage their own social media, I’d say if you have the knowledge and passion for your brand, it’s worth doing yourself. No one will tell your brand story as authentically as you can. Just stay flexible, learn as trends evolve, and don’t be afraid to show your personality.
Hannah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
After spotting my first Moke, I knew I had found something special. Fresh out of college, I prepared for my first summer in 2024 and jumped on the idea, launching Coastal Moke as soon as I moved to the beautiful Emerald Coast. While starting a business has come with its challenges, the journey has been incredibly rewarding and so much fun.
Today, I’m proud to offer an experience that’s truly unique to Destin and 30A. Coastal Moke is all about creating unforgettable moments. Whether you’re a family on vacation, a group of friends celebrating a bachelorette weekend, or a local looking to cruise in style, Coastal Moke guarantees “Every Mile With A Smile.”
With our vibrant, beachy, and vintage-inspired Mokes, you’ll explore the coast in the coolest way possible—turning heads and making memories along the way. As we gear up for an exciting new season, I couldn’t be more thrilled to continue growing this adventure and sharing it with everyone who visits.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my audience on social media has been all about community and connection. One of the biggest game-changers for me was collaborating on giveaways with other local businesses. These partnerships not only introduced Coastal Moke to new audiences but also allowed me to support and connect with the incredible local businesses in our area. Giveaways create excitement, build engagement, and help reach people who might not have found my page otherwise.
Consistency was another key factor — showing up every day with fresh content, capturing the fun and unique Coastal Moke experience. This approach helped me grow my account to over 15,000 followers and create a loyal online community. For anyone just starting, I’d say: partner with others, get creative with your content, and stay consistent.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for Coastal Moke has been social media, without a doubt. It’s incredible how directly it connects me to clients. I’ve had so many people tell me they booked a Coastal Moke rental after seeing one of my videos. Beyond that, collaborations with local businesses and influencers have had a tremendous impact on growing my business. These partnerships not only increase visibility but also create authentic word-of-mouth recommendations that resonate with potential customers. Social media has truly been essential for turning curious viewers into happy clients.
