We were lucky to catch up with Hannah Umberger recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hannah, appreciate you joining us today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
Some of the biggest trends we are seeing are smaller events, destination events, elopements, bows, and unique celebrations that don’t follow the norm.
People are getting tired of the huge events where they don’t get to talk to half of their guests. They want a more intimate experience with close family and friends. Budget is also something to take into consideration with small events. Weddings are expensive, and having people you don’t want in attendance just wastes resources.
I think trends are great and really fun but I think it’s important for couples to do what makes them happy and what feels authentic to them. Trends come and go, but having your wedding be something that embodies you and your partner is so important, even if it doesn’t follow an exact trend.

Hannah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I grew up always surrounded by hospitality. My mother is a florist and Interior Designer and she was always entertaining. I would constantly help her plan parties and execute them and I always knew it was something I wanted to do. I went to school for Hospitality Management and Tourism. I had an internship will a local Wedding Planning company and that is when I knew it was something I wanted to do. I worked for them for two years after my internship and then opened my own business. My dad owns his own business so the entrepreneurial spirit was always something we were taught,
A strong love for travel and unique details combines with my degree in Hospitality Management and Tourism to bring authentic gatherings to life in any location. I have been in the industry for 6+ years, traveling all over the country for my clients and seeing first-hand the possibilities behind what can make an event personal. This experience has equipped me with the knowledge and resources to execute a wedding to perfection, bringing your vision to life and allowing you to soak up every memorable moment.
My heart for serving and passion for planning has only grown since being a bride myself. I understand the difficulty of balancing endless decisions with immeasurable excitement – let me take the stress off of you, crafting an extraordinary event that is uniquely yours while you enjoy the experience and stay present.
I provide planning and day-of coordination for couples locally and all over the world. I also plan bachelorette weekends, bridal shower, etc. I think what sets us apart is we aren’t a one-size-fits-all-all company. We champion each individual and pride ourselves in giving the best experience to couples no matter what they look like or what type of wedding they want to have. I think, in this industry companies really fall into what fits their “brand” and their “aesthetic” and forget about the people and the reason for weddings and marriage.
At Hannah Elizabeth Events we love pretty weddings but what we love more is love and the stories behind it. We will help you plan and execute the best day no matter your budget, style, or vision.
Owning a small business is hard, anyone who tells you differently is lying. We work 24/7 all day every day. I work on my vacations, weekends, and evenings, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love seeing the faces of our couples when it all comes together and they are in the moment on their wedding day. I’m most proud of our team and the friendships we have. The trust within my team is so special!
Our Why: The heart behind Hannah Elizabeth Events goes beyond the details of the wedding day into truly getting to know each of our couples, their unique love story, and the dreams they hold as partners. We’re honored to be a team of planners who find joy in watching our couples fall deeper in love while they celebrate the most important moments of their lives together. We’re so glad you’re here and can’t wait to plan the most unforgettable event with you!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
We pride ourselves on giving an excellent experience. We want couples to leave so happy with the end result and thankful for our time together. It’s so important to us to build relationships with other vendors and also be able to advocate for the couple. Sometimes this job requires speaking up for the couple and what they want. There are times when you have to short through things in order to get the best outcome. Being able to do that with grace and respect while also getting the best outcome for your couple is very important. We pride ourselves on our relationships with couples and vendors who continue to refer us and work with us because of the positive experience they have had.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth is so important. It’s also really important to foster good relationships with vendors. A client can recommend you a couple of times but another vendor can recommend you hundreds. So while the couple’s experience is the most important thing. It’s also important to have clear communication, respect, and friendship with vendors when possible.
Social Media is also a big one. Having a presence there and keeping up with it is so important. You want people to see the face behind the biz.
