We recently connected with Hannah True and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Hannah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so one thing we think people don’t talk about nearly enough is investments – either time or money. What’s one of the best or worst investments you’ve made and what did you learned from the experience?
My best investment has been my van! It’s an empty cargo van and it’s been a tremendous help. I no longer have to rent U-Hauls and guesstimate what size truck or van to rent. I don’t have to worry about rental availability or spending the extra time to pick-up and drop-off the rental. I have everything I need in my van and I’m able to use it whenever I need to! I made the decision to purchase the van when I was wasting way too much time and money on rentals and figured I might as well get my own and have it branded. It has the cutest decals that not only make me happy, but also make other people smile when they see it on the road!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I first started working with balloons in 2012 as a volunteer clown with the Volunteer Clowns of Orange County. Ever since then, I’ve been extremely passionate about balloons and what they represent. I’ve always said that balloons break barriers; they create smiles and a smile is the same in every language. Whether it’s a simple balloon dog or a life size castle made of balloons, balloons always bring joy. I can make pretty much anything out of balloons. I’ve made motorcycles, dresses, and life-size characters. Thanks to my early days as a balloon twister, I have a unique skillset that enables me to make virtually anything. It’s my passion for making a difference and these skills that set me apart from the rest.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Customer service. If your customer service is horrible, it makes the entire booking process a chore. Ordering balloons is generally for a joyous occasion; it shouldn’t be a hassle. The booking process should reflect that joy and I make sure the client doesn’t have to worry about anything. Quick replies, sufficient answers, and a friendly tone are key to successful customer service and a stellar reputation.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
100% referrals. If your product or service is bad, people are more than likely not going to come back. And we all know people talk, especially when something goes wrong. Making sure your clients are happy with their experience is the single most important thing. Nothing is more satisfying than a client who comes refers someone. To me, this means they want to share the joy of balloons and trust us to celebrate their loved one’s most precious moments in life.
